Analysis of IR horizon scanner flight experiments in a transfer orbit

Abstract: This paper describes the results,of the analysis and the evaluation of flight data obtained from the horizon sensor test project conducted jointly by National Aerospace Laboratory and National Space Development Agency of Japan. For this purpose, we have developed a mathematical model of the sensor including the earth radiation profile and the dynamical property of the sensor electric circuit, which was used in the pre-flight analysis. The obtained flight data have been evaluated in terms of electric processing errors, transmission noise properties and the earth infrared radiation profile variations. They are also compared with this preflight performance predictions from the viewpoint of developing design criteria concerned with the critical error factors.
