Described herein is a holder (24) and a method of making an index print using the holder (24). The holder (24) comprises a plurality of sleeves (30) into which a filmstrip (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) can be placed. The method comprises the steps of inserting at least one filmstrip (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) into the holder (24), scanning the holder (24) so as to obtain a digital record representative of the images present on each filmstrip (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15), and printing the digital record so as to form an index print.

Method of making an index print

Process for the production of photographic copies from photographic copy masters in a photographic copy apparatus, wherein initially in a measuring station of the photographic copy master an exposed photographic master material, on which photographic copy masters are exposed, is analyzed master by master. In the process, the measuring data necessary for the exposure of each master is determined, together with the size and the position of the center of each copy master on the film. A number is assigned unambiguously to each master, the number being determined by scanning an expanded DX code provided in periodic intervals in a border area of the master material by a single bar code detector used in the measuring station to read the expanded DX code. The number is determined by reading the expanded DX code. The numbers assigned to the copy masters, together with the associated measured data, are passed on to a computer and control unit. In an exposure station, located downstream from the measuring station in the direction of transport of the master material, the copy masters are exposed according to the measured data belonging to the prevailing copy master number present in the computer and control station onto photographic copy material to produce photographic copies. The number assigned to each copy master is applied to the photographic copy, preferably to the reverse side.

A film transporting apparatus for a film processing system. The apparatus includes a pair of frame members pivotably connected to each other to be opened and closed, a transport mechanism provided to each of the frame members and operable to transport a film along a predetermined film transport passage when the frame members are closed, an optical sensor for detecting film information including a light emitting portion provided in one of the frame members and a light receiving portion provided in the other frame member, positioning engaging portions provided respectively to the frame members and coming into engagement with each other in association with a pivotal movement of the frame members to a closed state. The apparatus further includes a movable frame member movably provided to one of the frame members. This movable frame member supports the positioning engaging portions and the light emitting portion or the light receiving portion and allows relative movement between the positioning engaging portions provided respectively to the pair of frame members.

The apparatus characterized in that a control device includes determining whether a frame number of a first available frame on a photographic filmstrip removed from a film cartridge is equal to one or is greater than one; searching first for a highest of the respective frame numbers of the selected images on a photographic filmstrip removed from the cartridge and then in succession the next lowest frame number of the selected images until all of the frame numbers of the selected images have been found if the frame number of the first available frame of a photographic filmstrip is equal to one, or for searching first for a lowest of the respective frame numbers of the selected images on a photographic film strip removed from the cartridge and then in succession the next highest frame number of the selected images until all of the frame numbers of the selected images have been found if the frame number of the first available frame of a photographic filmstrip is greater than one, and printing each one of the selected images in response to its frame number being found.

Method and apparatus for reproducing an image recorded on a photographic filmstrip

In an auto-printer, wherein original frames to be printed are sequentially and automatically printed at an optimum exposure amount, which is determined based on frame specification data which includes exposure correction data, frame number and position data and stored during negative inspection. The frame position data is compared with an actual amount of film advancement detected when advancing the frame toward a print position, so as to determine whether the frame specification data corresponds to the actual frame placed in the print position. Simultaneously, the actual frame number of the frame placed in the print position is determined based on frame number bar code read from the photographic film during advancing the film, so as to compare the actual frame number with the frame number data. If it is determined by either one of the above described comparison that the frame specification data does not correspond to the actual frame, the auto-printer is automatically changed from an auto-print mode to a manual print mode.

Apparatus and method for checking coincidence between frame specification data and an actual frame of an auto-printer

PURPOSE:To quickly and preciously detect the occurrence of a out of synchronism of data when frame position data is not coincident with the actual frame. CONSTITUTION:When a film is fed at the time of setting a frame subject to printing to the printing position of a film carrier, a frame number bar code is detected. The number of the frame actually set at the printing position of the film carrier is specified from the detected frame number bar code. The out of synchronism of the data is decided by the result whether the specified frame number data and the frame number data inputted in a negative testing process, etc., are coincident or not.
