A non-contact infrared (IR) thermometer for measuring temperature from the surface of an object includes an IR radiation sensor attached to a heating element and a thermal shield having an interior surface positioned within the sensor's field of view that has a high emissivity. An electronic circuit controlling the heating element maintains the temperatures of the sensor and shield substantially close to an anticipated surface temperature of the object. The IR radiation sensor is further thermally coupled to a reference temperature sensor. An optical system positioned in front of the shield focuses thermal radiation from the object on the surface of the sensor, while the shield prevents stray radiation from reaching the sensor. Signals from the IR and reference sensors are used to calculate the object's surface temperature.

An upper portion of a case body (1) of a radiant-temperature clinical thermometer is integrally formed to include a supporting frame (11) to which a supporting cylinder (2) is secured horizontally. The tip of the supporting cylinder (2) projects outwardly and a radiant-temperature sensor (3) for sensing heat rays from the external ear is secured to the end face of the tip. A cylindrical probe (4) is supported on the supporting cylinder (2) so as to be free to slide, and the cylindrical probe (4) is biased by a coil spring (42) in a direction that thrusts the probe outwardly. A flange (41) on the base end of the cylindrical probe (4) abuts against a stopper (12) of the supporting frame (11), whereby the extended position of the cylindrical probe (4) is determined. A cover ( 9 ) is attached to the tip portion of the cylindrical probe (4). When the tip portion of the cylindrical probe (4) is inserted slightly into the orifice of the ear and pressed, the cylindrical probe (4) retracts and a lever (51) of a microswitch (5), which is attached to the supporting frame (11), is pressed by the flange (41) of the cylindrical probe (4). The switch (5) produces an ON signal as a result. The ON signal is applied as a measurement-start trigger signal to a temperature measuring circuit provided within the case body (1). Thus, the timing at which temperature measurement starts is always fixed so as to reduce a variance in measured temperature.

SOLUTION: The power generation device 10 includes: a magnet type generator 11; a power generation current control means 12 which feeds electricity to an electric load 14 by converting a current generated by the magnet-type generator 11 into a power generation current Ix of an arbitrary current value; and the battery 13 connected to the electric load 14 in parallel therewith. The power generation current control means 12 determines whether the battery 13 is deteriorated or not, and when the battery 13 is deteriorated, the control means controls the battery so as to reduce the power generation current Ix compared with the case that the battery 13 is not deteriorated. By this, when the battery 13 is deteriorated, a power generation level can be lowered. Therefore, the progress of the deterioration of the battery 13 is suppressed, a life of the battery 13 is elongated, a battery voltage hardly reaches an overvoltage protection threshold, and thus the continuation of charging becomes possible. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation controller that prevents a battery charging current amount from exceeding an allowable maximum charging current amount Iqmax of a battery by adopting a secondary battery other than a lead battery. SOLUTION: The power generation controller is provided with a magnet generator 21 driven by an internal combustion engine, a power generation current control means 22 that allows a rectification part 22a and a control part 22c to rectify an AC current to a DC current in order to adjust a power generation amount, and a battery 23 connected in parallel with the power generation current control means 22. The power generation current control means 22 is provided with the rectification part 22a, which converts an AC current generated by the magnet generator 21 into a DC current, and the control part 22c for controlling a power generation amount of the rectification part 22a. The control part 22c controls a supply amount of a power generation current Ix outputted from the rectification part 22a so as not to exceed an allowable maximum charging current amount Iqmax of the battery 23.
