An electronic book display control device capable of solving the problem of a conventional page turning method of an electronic book device that pages are turned in accordance with a value predetermined by a speed controller and hence it is difficult to turn pages flexibly in accordance with the contents of the book and the characteristics of the user. The control device is provided with a CPU (1) which controls the whole device, an image data storage unit (2) in which the contents of the book are stored as image data, an image data control unit (3) which receives the image data and performs the required control, a display preparation image data memory unit (4) in which image data of the page being displayed and the page to be displayed next are stored, and a display unit (5) on which information concerning the image data and information concerning the operation of the electronic book are displayed. The data displayed on the display unit at a specific time in a page turning period are stored in a page turning data memory unit (9) and the column information of the page turning data is stored in a column information storage table (10). In accordance with the column information, the address of the display preparation image data memory unit (4) and the image data on the page being displayed and the page to be displayed next are selected by a display changeover control unit (11).

Display control device and reproduction display device for electronic books

PURPOSE:To browse picture information stored in a disk at a sufficiently high speed by hierarchically dividing picture information to plural stages and storing picture information of one of plural stages in a high-speed random access area on the disk and storing that of the other stages in another area. CONSTITUTION:With respect to the disk where hierarchical picture information divided to first and N-th stages is stored, only picture information of the first stage is stored in the high-speed random access area (area 1), and picture information of second to N-th stages is stored in an area 2 other than the area 1. In the case of a high retrieval frequency, picture information of the first stage stored in the area 1 is accessed at random at a high speed and is displayed. Thus, quick browsing is realized. In the case of stop of a retrieval request, the area 2 is accessed simultaneously with stop of browsing, and all of picture information of second to N-th stages is displayed at the time of stop, and the picture quality is improved.

PURPOSE:To attain the reduction of a binary picture compensating the disadvantage of the projection method such as missing of a thin line by detecting it that a pattern of a reference picture element is a pattern requiring the predetermined correction with respect to an output value (projection) of the projection method around a noted picture element, and applying a positive or a negative correction value. CONSTITUTION:For example, 3X3 block data D1.1-D3.3 from a line buffer 1 as shown in figure (b) are inputted to a projection value calculator 2 and a correction value calculator 3. The projection value calculator 2 calculates a projection value sum by using matrix values a1.1-a3.3 as shown in figure (c) in a memory 5 according to equation I. The correction value calculator 3 uses the block data D1.1-D3.3 from the buffer 1 and the reduced picture element obtained already as reference picture element data and outputs a correction value mod. Then a correction projection value sum + mod is obtained by an adder 7, a comparator 4 binarizes the value of a threshold level memory 6 to output 1 or 0. Thus, in the case of a predetermined specific pattern, a positive or negative correction is applied to the projection value to prevent missing of a thin line.

Picture reducing device

PURPOSE: To execute the retrieval at high speed by using compressed data at the time of retrieval and to reproduce an original picture at high speed by recording both of original picture data and compressed and encoded image data. CONSTITUTION: Image data inputted from a video signal source 10, or image data read out of a memory card 12 is recorded in an original picture data area 30a or the compressed data area 30b of a file 20 of an optical disk, etc., in the form of two kinds of data of original picture data which is not compressed nor encoded and compressed data which is compressed and encoded. In this state, an image recorded in the file 30 is retrieved by displaying it by a multi-screen on a CRT 50, and the image recorded in the file 30 is reproduced and displayed as an original image on the CRT 50. Image recording and reproducing device

PURPOSE: To improve the use efficiency of storage capacity by providing an image storage means which reproduces an input image hierachically in order, a storage means which stores file control information on the input image, a means which allows said storage means to perform registration processing and retrieval processing, and a means which displays a title image consisting of an original image and part of said reproduced image. CONSTITUTION: When registration is performed, input image data is stored temporarily in an image memory 33 and then transferred from the memory part 53 to a data storage part 36 with a registration command from a main control part 30, and this original image data 4 is recorded hierachically in a data storage part 1 in the storage part 36 after hierachic sequential recording and reproduction processing 2. The file control information consists of recording position information on the data, control data, and an image number and is recorded every time the hierachic data is recorded. When retrieval is performed, the main control part 30 reads the file control information on the title image out of the storage part 36 in response to its indication to obtain the storage position of hierachic data to be reproduced from reproduced hierachic data of the control information, reads its reproduced data out of the storage part 1, and reproduces the corresponding image data hierachically by recording and reproduction processing 2. Thus, the image data is recorded hierachically and successively so that it can be reproduced, and consequently the title image consists of part of its reproduction data, so that the title image need not be recorded individually.
