Smart home security control system has becameindispensable in daily life. The design and development of a home security system, based on human face recognition technology and remotely monitoring technology, to confirm visitor identity and to control door accessibility has been reported in this paper. This paper describes about the implementation and deployment of wireless control system and accessibility in to a home environment for authenticated people only. A wireless network technique Wifi based and image processing technique PCA based, dedicatedly make the security system alive as per the request. Wifi module and electromagnetic door lock module combinedly operate the door accessibility, has been designed and developed. Face detection and recognition algorithms, as well as a wireless interface are used to detect and identify visitors and send an email and/or an alert message about the current home environment status via GSM network automatically to the home owner’s mobile phone or any communication devices. The concerned authority can control the system through his/her mobile phone or any communication devices by sending AT Commands to GSM MODEM or by taking necessary actions for authentication through email, which is again password protected. Users can monitor visitors and control the door lock on active Web pages enhanced with JavaScript and HTML. This system finds a wide application in areas where physical presence is not possible all the time. The entire control system is built using ARM1176JZF-S microcontroller and tested for actual use in home environment.

Web-Based Online Embedded Door Access Control and Home Security System Based on Face Recognition

The invention relates to a smart home system, which comprises a set-top box, a television, a wireless switch and an electric lamp. The set-top box comprises a processing center, a television interface, a wired network interface and a wireless network interface. The processing center is connected with the television interface and the wired network interface, connected with the wireless switch by the wireless network interface and used for receiving digital audio and video information by the wired network interface, decoding the received digital audio and video information into digital audio information and digital video information suitable for the television to play, transmitting the digital audio information and the digital video information suitable for the television to play to the television interface, and transmitting a light regulation signal to the wireless switch by the wireless network interface. The television is connected with the television interface, and is used for playing the digital audio information and the digital video information transmitted by the television interface. The wireless switch is connected with the electric lamp, and is used for controlling the on, off and light regulation of the electric lamp according to the light regulation signal. The smart home system can perform home control by utilizing the set-top box.

Smart home system

An environmental thermal comfort model has previously been quantified based on the predicted mean vote (PMV) and the physical sensors parameters, such as temperature, relative humidity, and air speed in the indoor environment. However, first, the relationship between environmental factors and physiology parameters of the model is not well investigated in the smart home domain. Second, the model that is not mainly for an individual human model leads to the failure of the thermal comfort system to fulfill the human's comfort preference. In this paper, a cyber-physical human centric system (CPHCS) framework is proposed to take advantage of individual human thermal comfort to improve the human's thermal comfort level while optimizing the energy consumption at the same time. Besides that, the physiology parameter from the heart rate is well-studied, and its correlation with the environmental factors, i.e., PMV, air speed, temperature, and relative humidity are deeply investigated to reveal the human thermal comfort level of the existing energy efficient thermal comfort control (EETCC) system in the smart home environment. Experimental results reveal that there is a tight correlation between the environmental factors and the physiology parameter (i.e., heart rate) in the aspect of system operational and human perception. Furthermore, this paper also concludes that the current EETCC system is unable to provide the precise need for thermal comfort to the human's preference.

A Scoping Study on Lightweight Cryptography Reviews in IoT

Since the last decade, Smart home systems achieved popularity due to their increase in comfort and improvement in quality life. Smart homes with the integration of Internet of Things devices by embedding intelligence into sensors and actuators, data, and services can be communicated efficiently and in a more secure manner. In a Smart home environment, there can be several users who will need to access services from various Smart home devices at any point in time either individually or concurrently. In an Internet of Things, it is possible to process and exchange data without human intervention. Therefore, because of this full autonomy, these entities need to recognize, authenticate entities and ensure the integrity of their exchanged data. In a conventional smart home system, every device has to authenticate separately using credentials. Such authentication is not required in a trusted environment. The same account can be shared across different devices and when shared, the authentication process can be reduced to a consent-based process. In this research, assuming that there are multiple smart devices connected to each other and to the cloud via the hub. Also, there can be multiple sets of users accessing the same set of smart devices and related services through different accounts. The problem with conventional authentication is no common authentication or authorization system to avoid redundant logins. In this regard, Blockchain has been considered for its potential to provide a framework for decentralized-based applications based on the concept of Smart Contracts. By combining the power of Blockchain technology and public-key cryptography it is possible to ensure secure authentication and identification of people and devices. This work avoids the duplicate authentication for accessing the same service and does the communication in a limited latency. Most of the important security goals such as authentication, authorization, confidentiality, and integrity are met.

Unified smart home resource access along with authentication using Blockchain technology

The Internet of Things (IoT) have become significantly important in authentication mechanisms in which traditional authentication have shift to the biometric factors whereby biometric is said to offer more security and convenience to the users.The purpose of this paper is to provide an extensive review on biometric factors for smart home environments that are intended for security, comfort, healthcare, and energy saving.This paper also discusses the security authentication mechanisms, which are knowledge factor (password, PIN), ownership factor (ID card, passport), and inherent factor (fingerprint, iris, facial), known as biometric factors.Biometric factors can be used as authentications for smart home environments, which are more robust and reliable in terms of accuracy, convenience, and speed.
