A stereocontrolled total synthesis of optically active (R,R)-phytol

TL;DR: In this paper, a (R,R)-phytol uith highly stereochemioal purity in both absolute and geometrical aonfigurations was achieved by utilizing the SNZ type ring-opening reaction of (R)-β-methyl-β-propiolactone.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel synthetic method for optically active terpenes by the ring-opening reaction of (R)-(+)-β-methyl-β-propiolactone

TL;DR: Optically active terpene such as (R )-(+)-citronellol, ( R )-(+)pulegone or ( S )-ar-turmerone is prepared in high enantiomeric excess from an intermediate, such as, (R ǫ)-citronellic acid or (S ) −3-p-tolylbutyric acid, which is easily prepared by the S n 2 type of ring opening reaction of ( R Ã −)-β-methyl-β-propiolactone with homoprenyl
Journal ArticleDOI

A three carbon homologation by the ring-opening of β-propiolactones with diorganocuprates

TL;DR: In this article, various organocuprates react with β-propiolactones to give β-substituted propionic acids in high yields, which are then used to synthesize new propionic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reaction of Diketene with Grignard Reagents in the Presence of Cobalt Catalyst. A Convenient Method for the Synthesis of 3-Methylenealkanoic Acids Leading to Terpenoids

TL;DR: In this article, primary alkyl Grignard reagents react regioselectively with diketene in the presence of cobalt(II) iodide to afford 3-methylenealkanoic acids in good yields.
Journal ArticleDOI

Jasmonoid Synthesis from sci-4-Heptenoic Acid

TL;DR: Jasmonoids with cis-2-pentenyl side chain such as cis-jasmone, methyl jasmonate and jasmolone were easily synthesized from cis-4-heptenoic acid obtained by the ring opening reaction of β-propiolactone with di-cis-butenylcuprate as mentioned in this paper.
