The invention teaches a slip form paving machine which can be used for both zero clearance variable width and variable width conventional paving using the same paving pan. The main frame of the machine is designed to hydraulically extend and retract from varying desired widths. The paving assembly, attached to the main tractor assembly frame, is adjustable as wide as the width of the main frame of the machine or further past the exterior limits for additional clearance, if required. The paving pan, which is part of the pan assembly, can also be extended to conform to these various widths. In a “zero clearance” paving mode, the same pan is located behind the main tractor frame, whereas in conventional paving, the pan is located under the center of the main frame inside of the tracks. In addition, the paving pan can be adjusted to pave varying surface angles, if required.

Zero clearance variable width concrete paving machine

A mechanical linkage having a geometry designed to substantially hold the plane of a main screed and the plane of an extension screed at a generally constant relative angle with respect to one another through a predetermined range of screed depth adjustments. The linkage is configured to allow the extension screed to be raised and lowered by an amount sufficient to compensate for angle of attack and elevation changes in the main screed. In particular, the linkage compensates for the effect of the radial distance differences from the axis of rotation of tow bars of the main screed and extension screed as the main screed pivots with respect to the tow point of the tow bars for different asphalt mat depths. An alternate embodiment includes actuators, together with sensors, for sensing the position of the extension screed with respect to the main screed and automatically compensating for changes in main screed position to properly orient the extension screed with respect to the main screed.

Adjustable screed system

An ironing device and a spreading machine having same. The ironing device comprises a basic ironing plate (10) and a lengthened ironing plate (40) connected thereto, and further comprises a clamping mechanism (30). The clamping mechanism (30) comprises: a driving system comprising a cylinder body (331), a piston (333) and a supporting rod (335), the supporting rod (335) passing through the basic ironing plate (10) and the lengthened ironing plate (40), and a first end of the cylinder body (331) being pressed against the lengthened ironing plate (40); a power system comprising a pressure source communicated with the cylinder body (331); an energy storage system comprising a spring component (321), a first end of the spring component (321) being pressed against a second end of the cylinder body (331); and a limit adjustment system comprising a first limit adjustment portion, the first limit adjustment portion and the supporting rod (335) being provided with a first position passing through the basic ironing plate (10) and a second position pressed against the basic ironing plate (10). When the ironing plate is lengthened, the ironing device is easy to mount, and fastening pieces do not need to be screwed up manually, so that the labor intensity of operators is reduced, and the mounting speed of the lengthened ironing plate is increased.

Spreading machine and ironing device thereof

The dropped curb finisher is for use with a slip form paving machines for forming continuous curbs and gutters. The dropped curb finisher has a vertical mounting plate, a finishing plate, an end plate and a vibrator for imparting vibration to the end plate and the finishing plate. The finishing plate extends rearwardly from the bottom edge of the mounting plate and the end plate inclines upwardly from the end of the finishing plate remote from the mounting plate. In another embodiment the present invention comprises a method of forming a dropped curb with a slip form paving machine for forming continuous curbs and gutters.

Dropped curb finisher

An extendable screed has independent height and angle of attack adjustment for a lower extender frame. At least one post and cylinder assembly are used to couple the lower extender frame to an upper extender frame at a pin that allows rotation of the lower extender frame relative to the upper extender frame. A vertical adjuster uses a drive rod with a pivoting attachment at the lower extender frame. An axis of rotation of the pin and an axis of rotation of the pivoting attachment are co-linear. This arrangement allows lower extender frame to move vertically while allowing angle of attack adjustments to be made about the co-linear axes of rotation. Simple screw adjusters displaced from the axis of the pin and collet assemblies allow raising and lowering the back of the lower extender frame to adjust the angle of attack.

Extendable Screed Height Adjusting System with Angle of Attack Adjustment

A screed assembly for use in paving material upon a generally horizontal surface includes a main screed having a generally vertical front surface. At least one and preferably two screed extensions are connected with the main screed. At least one and preferably a pair horizontally-extending support members each have a first end movably connected with the main screed and a second end connected with a screed extension. The support members are movable with respect to the main screed so as to displace the screed extensions alternately toward and away from the main screed front surface so as to adjust the angle of attack of the screed extensions independently of the angle of attack of the main screed. Preferably, an adjustment assembly or device is connected with the support member and is configured to displace the support member with respect to the main screed. The adjustment device includes a base attached to either the main screed or the support member, preferably the support member. A horizontally-extending rod has a first end attached to the other of the main screed or the support member and a second end movably engaged with the base. Movement of the rod with respect to the base displaces the screed extension alternatively toward and away from the front surface of the main screed so as to adjust the angle of attack of the screed extension.

A wear compensating device for a slope adjusting assembly for an extendable screed section of a paver includes a saddle support assembly on the screed, for supporting an extendable screed section, a saddle assembly on the saddle support assembly for carrying extendable guide members to support the extendable screed section, and an adjustable cam follower positioned between the saddle assembly and the saddle support assembly for providing rolling contact between the saddle assembly and the saddle support assembly, to maintain alignment between the saddle support assembly and the saddle assembly.
