PURPOSE:To obtain the title material which excels in heat resistance and water resistance and can give a molding excellent in strengths and free of defects due to foaming or the like when extrusion-molded by using a thermoplastic saturated norbornene polymer wherein the molecular weight and the volatile contact are specified. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic saturated norbornene polymer (e.g. a polymer obtained by hydrogenating a ring-opening polymer obtained from 1-hexene and ethyltetracyclododecene), wherein the number-average mol.wt. (Mn) as measured by high performance liquid chromatography is 50000-500000, the weight-average mol.wt.(Mw) is 100000-2000000, the mol.wt. distribution (Mw/Mn) is 2.2 or more, and the volatile content of the polymer is 0.3wt.% or less.
