An airbag explosive composition containing a fuel ingredient, an oxidizing agent, and a binder for them, wherein the binder is a hydrotalcite represented by the following general formula (1): [M2+1-xM3+x(OH)2]x+[An-x/n.mH2O]x-, wherein M2+ represents a divalent metal such as Mg?2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ or Zn2+; M3+? represents a trivalent metal such as Al?3+, Fe3+, Cr3+, Co3+ or In3+; An-? represents an n-valent anion such as OH?-, F-, Cl-, NO?3-, CO32-, SO42-, Fe(CN)?6?3-, CH3COO-, oxalate or salicylate; and 0 < x « 0.33.

Airbag explosive composition and process for producing said composition

A gas generator for air bags which is used for air bag devices which ensure safety of a driver and a passenger from shocks due to a car crush and so on. The gas generator comprises the following components, so that slug in a gas is prevented from flowing outside and reduction of the number of parts enables manufacturing of the gas generator at lower cost. The gas generator comprises a housing (3) formed by closing ends of a side cylinder (1b) having a plurality of gas discharge ports (8) by means of an upper cover (1a) and a lower cover (2a), an ignition device (16) provided centrally in the housing (3) for generating flames, a gas generating agent (6) provided diametrically outwardly of the ignition device (16) in the housing (3) and adapted to burn to generate a gas, a cooling/filtering member (7) provided diametrically outwardly of the gas generating agent (6) in the housing (3) to extend from the upper cover (1a) to the lower cover (2a), and an annular projection (50) for preventing gases generated by combustion of the gas generating agent (6) from flowing toward an end of the cooling/filtering member (7). The annular projection (50) is formed integrally on at least one of the upper cover (1a) and the lower cover (2a) in such a manner as to abut against an inner peripheral surface of the cooling/filtering member (7).

Gas generator for air bag

PURPOSE:To obtain a clean gas generation agent capable of quickly and efficiently generating a gas having a composition close to air and suitable to be used in an emergency, etc., by compounding aminotetrazole with specific amounts of nitric acid Na salt, K salt or Ba salt and a proper amount of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A mixture is produced by mixing 57-77 pts.wt. of sodium nitrate with 43-23 pts.wt. of aminotetrazole or mixing 60-80 pts.wt. of potassium nitrate with 40-20 pts.wt. of aminotetrazole or mixing 58-78 pts.wt. of barium nitrate with 42-22 pts.wt. of aminotetrazole. The mixture is mixed with a proper amount of a vehicle (e.g. magnesium stearate) and formed to obtain the objective clean gas generation agent. When the agent is filled in a container and ignited in use, the reactions of formula I, formula II and formula III take place to generate a gas having a composition close to that of air.
