Thaddäus Tönnies,S Röckl,Annika Hoyer,Christin Heidemann,Jens Baumert,Yong Du,Christa Scheidt-Nave,Ralph Brinks +7 more
TL;DR: To project the number of people with Type 2 diabetes in Germany between 2015 and 2040, a database of more than 1.3 million people diagnosed with the disease over a 25-year period is used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Microvascular Complications and Macrovascular Risk Factors in Early-Onset Type 1 Diabetes after at Least 10 Years Duration: An Analysis of Three Population-Based Cross-Sectional Surveys in Germany between 2009 and 2016
Thaddäus Tönnies,Anna Stahl-Pehe,Christina Baechle,Katty Castillo,Oliver Kuss,Rhuphine Yossa,Lena M E Lindner,Reinhard W. Holl,Joachim Rosenbauer +8 more
TL;DR: In early-onset type 1 diabetes, there exists a considerable risk of complications and comorbidities already in young ages and future research should focus on prevention of diabetic complications in young patients and clarification of pathways of the associations found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying the underestimation of projected global diabetes prevalence by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Diabetes Atlas.
TL;DR: In this paper, a numerical quantification of the difference between projected and observed global diabetes prevalence presented in the International Diabetes Federation atlas is presented. But the difference in observed versus projected prevalence and the lead time of the observed vs projected prevalence is not quantified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diabetes distress in young adults with early-onset Type 1 diabetes and its prospective relationship with HbA 1c and health status
Anna Stahl-Pehe,L. Glaubitz,Christina Bächle,Karin Lange,Katty Castillo,Thaddäus Tönnies,R. Yossa,Reinhard W. Holl,Joachim Rosenbauer +8 more
TL;DR: This study aimed to determine cross‐sectional relationships between diabetes distress and health‐related variables, and prospective associations between Diabetes distress and future glycaemic control (HbA1c) and health status among young adults with early‐onset Type 1 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Excess mortality for people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2012 – Estimates based on claims data from 70 million Germans
TL;DR: In Germany, men and women in 2012 with type 2 diabetes aged 65-90 years experienced a three-to four-fold higher mortality compared to people without T2D, which might indicate that the excess mortality could be higher than in countries with comparable health care systems.
