TL;DR: Mass-selected projectile ions in the tens of electronvolt energy range undergo surface-induced dissociation upon collision with a liquid perfluorinated polyether (PFPE) surface and the efficiency of translational-to-vibrational energy transfer is similar to that observed for a fluorinated self-assembled monolayer (SAM) surface.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that collisions of low-energy Cr(CO) n + (n = 0, 2, 6) ions with self-assembled monolayer surfaces bearing covalently bound ferrocene groups result in transfer of the cyclopentadienyl ligand into the gas phase as the Cr(C 5 H 5 ) + ion.
Abstract: Collisions of low-energy Cr(CO) n + (n = 0, 2, 6) ions with self-assembled monolayer surfaces bearing covalently bound ferrocene groups result in transfer of the cyclopentadienyl ligand into the gas phase as the Cr(C 5 H 5 ) + ion. High fluences of Cr + ions lead to deposition of Cr at the surface and subsequent Xe + collisions liberate the metal ion. The Cr atoms deposited on the surface appear to be chemically bonded to the cyclopentadienyl rings. The implications of these results for modification of surfaces using ion beams are discussed.

TL;DR: The first stable complex of C60 with an organic electron donor has been synthesized in this paper, having C60 and HMTTEF in a 1 : 1 ratio, is black, insulating, weakly magnetic, insoluble in most solvents and stable in air.
Abstract: The first stable complex of C60 with an organic electron donor has been synthesised; the complex, having C60 and HMTTEF (hexamethylenetetratellurafulvalene) in a 1 : 1 ratio, is black, insulating, weakly magnetic, insoluble in most solvents and stable in air.
