A surgical stapling device for applying an array of surgical staples to tissue is provided. The stapling device includes an approximation mechanism for moving a cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly between spaced and approximated positions and a firing mechanism for ejecting the array of staples from the cartridge assembly. A single trigger is operable to effect approximation and firing of the device. The device also includes an alignment pin assembly which can be selectively manually or automatically advanced. The anvil assembly includes a stiffener plate which allows the device to have a reduced head portion profile.

A heater core is freed of solder and flux contaminants produced during its manufacture by burnishing the exposed surfaces of the heater core by a wet blasting operation with a slurry of abrasive particles. The burnishing of the cores is achieved in a continuous operation in which the heater cores are advanced in succession through a housing from a loading station to an unloading station. In the housing, the heater cores are burnished with jets of slurry from nozzles after which the heater cores are rinsed with water. The slurry is recycled and maintained at a particular concentration and pH for uniform treatment of the successive heater cores.

A detector system has a first detector configured to detect a first high-frequency signal having amplitude-modulated (“AM”) noise to produce a first detected signal having at least a first detected AM noise signal component and a demodulated signal component and a second detector configured to detect a second high-frequency signal having the AM noise to produce a second detected signal having at least a second detected AM noise signal component. An algebraic combining network combines the first detected signal and the second detected signal to cancel the first detected AM noise signal component with the second detected AM noise signal component to produce an output signal including the demodulated signal component.

A detector for indicating reception disturbances during ultrashort wave broadcast reception by demodulating of intermediate frequency signals has a frequency modulated demodulator with a demodulation characteristic line formed so that a controlling region within which the output signal increases with increasing frequency deviation from a carrier frequency extends advantageously over the entire band width of the ultrashort wave intermediate frequency channel and is significantly greater than the maximum frequency deviation of the intermediate frequency carrier modulated with the basic band signal in the frequency, and the output signal of the frequency demodulator is supplied to an evaluating circuit at whose output the exceeding of a predetermined frequency disturbance deviation threshold is indicated by a logic signal.

Detector for indicating frequency deviation peaks

A frequency-modulated ultrashort-wave signal is received, but due to wave-reflection phenomena from physical bodies reflecting towards the receiving antenna is amplitude modulated, this amplitude modulation being dependent upon frequency. Derived from the frequency-modulated signal is a frequency-deviation signal indicating its instantaneous frequency deviation, and also an amplitude-indicating signal indicating its instantaneous amplitude. These can be fed to the x- and y-inputs of an oscilloscope for display of an amplitude versus frequency curve used to generate a quantitative characterization of reception quality, the oscilloscope screen being provided with a horizontal reference axis. In order that the horizontal reference axis implied by such curve stay in register with that on the screen, even during rotation of the receiving antenna, the amplitude-indicating signal is normalized with respect to the reflection-free amplitude value which the frequency-modulated signal would have in the absence of these wave-reflection phenomena. This is accomplished by applying the amplitude-indicating signal to a clocked amplitude regulator, which is clocked only when the frequency-deviation signal indicates substantially zero frequency deviation of the received frequency-modulated signal.

Normalization method and apparatus used when quantitatively measuring the reception quality of a received frequency-modulated ultrashort-wave signal

A method for measuring the reception quality of a frequency modulated VHF signal, in which the amplitude that has been modulated by wave reflections and the frequency omega of the VHF signal are separately ascertained and therefrom derived a criterion of the degree of the reception quality, characterized in that in order to ascertain the quotient A/A0 the momentary frequency deviation "zero" of the VHF signal is detected (40, 90) and in dependence on this zero detection there is activated an amplifying control (100) for the signal branch (70, 80) in order to ascertain the VHF signal amplitude (A), wherein A0 is the amplitude of the received VHF signal in absence of reflections and at the momentary frequency deviation "zero", and further characterized in that the derivative of the quotient A/A0 with respect to the frequency omega is formed, the maximum value of said derivative is directly forming the degree for the reception quality.
