Journal ArticleDOI
A pentacyclic triterpene with anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity from the roots of Commiphora merkeri.
TL;DR: A new pentacyclic triterpene with anti-inflammatory activity was isolated from the roots of Commiphora merkeri and established on the basis of spectral data and conversion to its triacetate.
Journal ArticleDOI
3′,4′,7,8-tetrahydroxyflavonoids from the heartwood of Acacia nigrescens and their conversion products
TL;DR: Nigrescin, the first optically active 2-hydroxy-2-benzylcoumaranone, and a (+)-2,3- trans -flavan-3,4- cis -diol, represent new members of the natural 3′,4′,7,8-tetrahydroxyflavonoid group as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
8-O-methyl- and the first 3-O-methylflavan-3,4-diols from Acacia saxatilis
TL;DR: The correlation between colour of Acacia heartwoods and structure, phenolic substitution, stereochemistry and composition of their flavonoid components is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A pentacyclic triterpene acid, with anti-ulcer properties, from Cussonia natalensis☆
TL;DR: The structure of 23-hydroxy-3-oxo-urs-12-en-28-oic acid, isolated from the twigs and leaves of Cussonia natalensis, has been determined by spectrometric methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flavonoid synthesis based on photolysis of flavan-3-ols, 3-hydroxyflavanones, and 2-benzylbenzofuranones
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the conversion of flavan-3-ols, 3-hydroxyflavanones, and 2-benzylbenzofuranones in methanol leads mainly to photochemical opening of the heterocyclic ring, or to its complete photofragmentation, the products being trapped by reaction with the solvent.
