LightGBM: a highly efficient gradient boosting decision tree
TL;DR: It is proved that, since the data instances with larger gradients play a more important role in the computation of information gain, GOSS can obtain quite accurate estimation of the information gain with a much smaller data size, and is called LightGBM.

Neural networks for encrypted data
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe methods and systems for performing neural network computations on encrypted data, using approximations of neural network functions to generate encrypted neural network results data from encrypted data.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Scaling Up Stochastic Dual Coordinate Ascent
TL;DR: An asynchronous parallel version of the SDCA algorithm is introduced, its convergence properties are analyzed, and a solution for primal-dual synchronization required to achieve convergence in practice is proposed.

Propagating signals across a web graph
Thomas Finley,Herbert De Melo Duarte,Bhuvan Middha,Dehu Qi,Tanton Holt Gibbs,Sambavi Muthukrishnan +5 more
TL;DR: A web graph is a collection of documents that are related to one another through links, such as hyperlinks as mentioned in this paper, which can be used by a search engine to determine that a particular page is relevant to a search query.
