Status of Anadromous Salmon and Trout in British Columbia and Yukon

TL;DR: Using fisheries agency databases and files, a summary database on the status of anadromous salmon stocks (genus Oncorhynchus) from British Columbia and Yukon streams is assembled and assessments found 624 stocks were at high risk, 78 were at moderate risk, 230 were of special concern, and 142 were extirpated in this century.

Mechanisms of Fish Migration in Rivers

TL;DR: The unidirectional flow of rivers provides a strong orientational cue and the confined channel provides fixed reference points for migrating fishes, which may provide a means for branch recognition by migrants within a dendritic river system.
