A system and method are provided for refrigerating at least one enclosure, such as an aircraft galley cart. The system includes at least one air-to-liquid heat exchanger, an eutectic thermal battery, a liquid-to-direct heat exchanger and at least one liquid-to-direct heat pump. The air-to-liquid heat exchangers are in thermal communication with the interiors of the enclosures. The thermal battery is in fluid communication with the air-to-liquid heat exchangers via a first coolant loop. The liquid-to-direct heat exchanger and the liquid-to-direct heat pumps are in fluid communication with the eutectic thermal battery via a second coolant loop, and in thermal communication with a cold heat sink, such as an aircraft fuselage skin structure. The system can controllably operate in direct passive, indirect passive, direct active and/or an indirect active modes whereby a coolant can selectively flow in the first and/or second coolant loops to thereby refrigerate the enclosures.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Reinigung von Gasen, bei dem ein Rohgas (1) durch Kondensieren und/oder Ausfrieren von Verunreinigungen zu einem Reingas (2) gereinigt wird mit Hilfe eines ersten Kuhlmittelstroms (3) in mindestens einem ersten Warmetauscher (4), wobei der erste Kuhlmittelstrom (3) in dem ersten Warmetauscher (4) getrennt vom Rohgas (1) gefuhrt wird und der erwarmte erste Kuhlmittelstrom (3) nach Verlassen des ersten Warmetauschers (4) zumindest teilweise in einem Kreislauf (5) dem ersten Warmetauscher (4) wieder zugefuhrt wird, wobei das Reingas (2) zumindest teilweise dem ersten Kuhlmittelstrom (3) zugefuhrt wird, sowie eine Vorrichtung zur Durchfuhrung dieses Verfahrens. The subject matter of the invention is a method for purifying a foreign-substance-laden gas flow of the foreign substance, with the gas flow being conducted through a heat exchanger (1) and being placed in thermal contact with a cooling medium in order to freeze and/or condense the foreign substance out, wherein the purification takes place in only one tube heat exchanger (1), through the interior space (3) of which the gas flow is conducted from a first end region (4) to a second end region (5), and here, is cooled by means of contact with a first group (6) of tubes which are traversed by the coolant, and in that the gas flow, in the second end region (5), is directly deflected again and is conducted back through the interior space (3) of the heat exchanger (1) to the first end region (4) through a second group (7) of tubes while undergoing an exchange of heat with the gas flow flowing into the interior space (3). A corresponding device has a heat exchanger (1) having at least two groups (6, 7) of tubes which run through an interior space (3) of the heat exchanger (1) from a first end region (4) to a second end region (5) of the heat exchanger (1), with it being possible for the gas flow to traverse the interior space (3) of the heat exchanger (1) from a gas flow inlet (2) at the first end region (4) to the second end region (5), and with a first group (6) of the tubes being part of a substantially closed cooling medium circuit (25), and a second group (7) of the tubes for recirculating the gas flow from the second end region (5) of the heat exchanger (1) being connected to a purified gas outlet (10) in the first end region (4). In order to further reduce the operating temperature in the second end region (5), it is possible for additional cooling medium to be injected into the cooling medium circuit (25) upstream of said second end region (5). It is even possible for the injection to take place by means of an injector, which then replaces a pump and cooler. The device is simple to regulate, cost-effective to produce and can be operated with a high level of effectiveness.

Nach dem Stand der Technik wird ein unterkuhltes flussiges Medium, beispielsweise unterkuhler flussiger Stickstoff, durch einen Unterkuhler gepumpt und dabei durch das gleiche, im Unterdruck verdampfende Medium abgekuhlt. Dieser so unterkuhlte Stickstoff dient dann als Kaltetrager fur einen Verbraucher. Wird vom Verbraucher nur wenig Warme an den Stickstoff abgegeben, kann das flussige Medium im Kreislauf gefuhrt werden, in dem der Unterkuhler angeordnet ist. Zum Ausgleich von Volumenschwankungen benotigt ein solcher Kreislauf ein Ausgleichsgefas, das allerdings sehr aufwandig ist und uberdies bei unterkuhlten Medium nur betrieben werden kann, wenn entweder ein Teil des Mediums mittels Fremdenergie beheizt werden, oder es muss ein inertes und bei sehr tiefen Temperaturen siedendes Gas als Druckausgleichsmedium zum Einsatz kommen. Erfindungsgemas wird vorgeschlagen, dass der Versorgungsbehalter fur das flussige Medium in den Kuhlkreislauf integriert und als Ausgleichsbehalter eingesetzt wird. Dadurch kann auf den Einsatz eines separaten Ausgleichsbehalters verzichtet werden.
