Abstract: an imminently practical use for the book exists. In an era of assessment, the book points clearly to myriad changes related to college student attendance. The table of contents provides the beginnings of an outline of elements that could be a part of a campus-based assessment plan. The chapters then provide the rich detail, including evaluations of methods used to describe those changes. In a historical as well as a practical sense, this could easily be the most important piece of literature on college students of this century. It arrives at a time of a virtual explosion of research
