Journal ArticleDOI

Studying the dynamics of emotional expression using synthesized facial muscle movements.

TL;DR: This paper used static and animated synthetic images of facial expressions to assess whether judges can correctly recognize emotions exclusively on the basis of configurations of facial muscle movements, and found that dynamic presentation increased overall recognition accuracy and reduced confusions between unrelated emotions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction effects of perceived gaze direction and dynamic facial expression: Evidence for appraisal theories of emotion

TL;DR: This article found that the perceived specificity and intensity of fear and anger depended on the gaze direction (direct gaze for anger and averted gaze for fear) and the facial expression of emotion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Psychophysiological responses to appraisal dimensions in a computer game

TL;DR: In this paper, a computer game was used to study psychophysiological reactions to emotion-relevant events and the results show the utility of attempting to manipulate emotion-constituent appraisals and measure their peripheral physiological signatures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Automated coding of facial behavior in human-computer interactions with facs

TL;DR: A method was developed for automated coding of facial behavior in computer-aided test or game situations and results show that it is possible to identify and differentiate facial expressions by their corresponding dot patterns.
