Multicriteria renewable energy planning using an integrated fuzzy VIKOR & AHP methodology: The case of Istanbul

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a detailed literature review of the recent applications of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and analytic network process (ANP) group decision‐making methodologies.Design/methodology/approach – Among more than 600 related papers published in the period 2005‐2009, a total of 232 application articles published in highly reputed international academic journals were selected and referenced in this paper. Papers were categorized according to application areas, subject titles, publication date, country of origin, academic journals, and integrated methodologies, and are summarized herein by various tables and charts.Findings – The findings show that during the years 2005‐2009, use of the AHP technique has continued to increase exponentially. Moreover, it is expected that ANP will gain more popularity in the future, as the benefits of ANP become better understood. The Wealth of Knowledge: Intellectual Capital and the Twenty‐First Century Organization

As we may have a set of possible values when comparing alternatives (or criteria), the hesitant fuzzy preference relation becomes a suitable and powerful technique to deal with this case. This paper mainly focuses on the multiplicative consistency of the hesitant fuzzy preference relation. First of all, we explore some properties of the hesitant fuzzy preference relation and develop some new aggregation operators. Then we introduce the concepts of multiplicative consistency, perfect multiplicative consistency and acceptable multiplicative consistency for a hesitant fuzzy preference relation, based on which, two algorithms are given to improve the inconsistency level of a hesitant fuzzy preference relation. Furthermore, the consensus of group decision making is studied based on the hesitant fuzzy preference relations. Finally, several illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the practicality of our algorithms.

Multiplicative consistency of hesitant fuzzy preference relation and its application in group decision making

Decision or selection making is a vital part of daily life; of which the major concern is that almost all issues requiring decisions have multiple, often conflicting, criteria. In reality, there is no avoidance of the coexistence of qualitative and quantitative data, and the data are often full of fuzziness and uncertainty. In order to mediate the conflicts and contradictions in the reconciliatory process and act in response to the lack of flexibility while adopting traditional multi-criteria method to solve fuzzy problems, the study intends to use Fuzzy VIKOR methods to solve fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making problems. Fuzzy VIKOR aims to find the decision-maker's preferable compromise that suits human objective cognition. In this paper, we use case analysis to sort out the systematic solution process, and eventually come up with a best solution and compromise solution that can be an important reference of decision-making. Finally, our conclusion and suggestion for advanced works are also offered.

Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis by Using Fuzzy VIKOR

Application of consistent fuzzy preference relations in predicting the success of knowledge management implementation

People rely on the Internet in a higher and higher degree. Life, work, career, socializing, recreation and amusement are all closely bound up with the network. When wide-band networks are created, the demands of users on the networks became more and more versatile. Hence, how to improve the quality of customer service might be an important topic for the Internet service provider (ISP). The main aims of this paper are to observe customers' responses to the wide-band service that ISPs offer, and apply grey relational analysis to analyze the factors which influence the satisfaction of customers. Empirical data in the ChiTelcom Company from September of 2003 to August of 2004 are taken as sample. Among these available items, ten service factors are extracted to evaluate the service quality level of an ISP with ADSL in the wide-band network environment. Aside from the factor "ADSL network breakdown", the results show that "expenses arrearage" is the key factor influencing customer satisfaction. Still, suggestion and conclusion are also proposed improving the quality of service and increasing competitiveness in the ISP industry.

Applying grey relational analysis to the improvement of the quality of ISP customer service - an example of ADSL

With the fast development of technology and science, there come various changes and demands in consumer service market. The plan integrating "broadband network" with "application service" is potential and farsighted in network industry. Academic and technological institutes start researching and promoting the MOD (multimedia on demand) system, which transits multimedia information and provides users interactive interface via setop-box in broadband network. Implement cost, learning content and user behaviors might be taken into account when constructing MOD system. Besides, how to increase the MOD's capability of interaction and portability is a practical issue. Sharing and participating are of great importance for network users. This paper first proposes a digital content platform, which combines peer-to-peer (P2P) technology and sharable content object reference model (SCORM). Such a mechanism makes it possible for content providers to share versatile multimedia information with others in digital channel. Followed by a description of file sharing methods in P2P framework. Then, we advocate incremental k-nearest-neighbor (k-NN) algorithm analyzing SCORM metadata and user access records to improve system load, content feature classification efficiency, file index distribution and user query-feedback speed.
