Segmentation of Image Pairs and Sequences by Contour Relaxation

Abstract: During the last decade, much attention has been devoted to the analysis of corresponding images like stereo pairs, image sequences or sets of tomographic slices. In many approaches, the segmentation step and the correspondence analysis step are independently carried out one after the other. On the contrary, the method presented here provides an efficient segmentation scheme for pairs or series of images and simultaneously identifies corresponding regions, without the detour of a ‘prominent point’ or edge segment correspondence analysis.
