Market towns: Investigating the service role through visitor surveys

TL;DR: In the UK, although market towns have often grown in population, new housing may be located on the outskirts of towns and in isolated estates, with little integration of employment and service functions, leading to environmental and congestion problems and a further decline in the availability of rural services to those who are unable to travel and/or live in remoter areas.
