Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of supercooling of the melt on the semicrystalline morphology of PA 66

TL;DR: In this paper, fast scanning chip calorimetry (FSC) was used to prepare isothermally crystallized samples of polyamide 66 (PA 66) in a wide range of temperatures between 70 and 230°C for subsequent analysis of the semicrystalline morphology by X-ray diffraction, polarized-light optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extreme enhancement of the nonlinear elastic response of elastomer nanoparticulate composites via interphases

TL;DR: In this article, a combined experimental/theoretical investigation aimed at revealing and quantifying the precise mechanisms behind the enhanced elastic properties of a prototypical class of elastomer nanoparticulate composites: polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) filled with an isotropic distribution of TiO2 nanoparticles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling avian eggshell microstructure to predict ontogenetic age and reveal patterns of human-avifauna interaction

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the Common Ostrich (Struthio camelus) as their model system to predict the ontogenetic age of ratite eggshell using roughness measurements of 3D features.
