A system level scheme for networking of implantable devices, electronic patch devices/sensors coupled to the body, and wearable sensors/devices with cellular telephone/mobile devices, peripheral devices and remote servers is described.

An electronic lock utilizes two microprocessors remote from each other for enhanced security. The first microprocessor is disposed close to an input device such as a keypad, and the second microprocessor is disposed close to the lock mechanism and well protected from external access. The first microprocessor transmits a communication code to the second microprocessor when it receives via the input device an access code that matches a preset access code. The second microprocessor opens the lock if the transmitted communication code matches a preset communication code. The dual-microprocessor arrangement is advantageously used in a voice controlled access control system and in a motorcycle ignition control system. The present invention further provides an electronic access control system which has a master electronic key having a preset number of access, and an electronic alarm system for a bicycle that has a remote control mounted in the helmet of the rider.

Disclosed is a sustained-release preparation which is prepared by shaping a granule comprising a blood coagulation factor Xa inhibitor and a mixture of at least two hydrophilic polymers. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition comprising a combination of the sustained-release preparation and an immediate release preparation comprising a blood coagulation factor Xa inhibitor. It becomes possible to provide a controlled release preparation comprising a blood coagulation factor Xa inhibitor for the prevention or treatment of thrombosis, which can control the activity of blood coagulation factor Xa for a long term and is excellent in convenience and compliance. It is also becomes possible to provide a method for producing the controlled release preparation.

An electronic key for an electronic lock system is provided with graphical user interface which can display a plurality of symbols corresponding to a plurality of functions that the key can cause the lock to execute. An operator of the key moves a visual indicia among these symbols to select a desired function. The key then transmits instructions to the lock causing the selected function to be executed.

An alphanumeric entry system which is provided with an electronic lock-out feature. The keypad entry system of the present invention comprises an alphanumeric keypad having function keys and display, a microprocessor, and an electronically programmable read-only memory device. The display consists of a series of system related menus as well as an alphanumeric display area. One of the system related menus corresponds to a locking feature, which may be activated by a general purpose function key. In the locking mode, the radio keypad toggles between a locked and unlocked condition as controlled by the function keys in accordance with a predefined sequence. The alphanumeric entry system of the present invention is particularly advantageous for use with portable two-way communications equipment which operate in a plurality of radio systems.

A transmission-economized serial bus protocol comprising at least one eight-bit word further comprising at least an operation code and a subargument (Fig. 2). The operation code and subargument comprise, respectively, either a start-of-message character or a start-of-reply character and either a device destination address or the device's source addresse (Fig. 3). Further, an error detection device is provided comprising an even parity bit. Moreover, there is provided an optimized method of bus contention comprising monitoring the bus (230) for an idle or busy bus condition and either attempting an asynchronous bus access if the bus is idle or synchronously attempting a prioritized retry after a busy bus condition is sensed, after a bus access collision is sensed, and upon initial power-up, synchronized to the current message completion. The prioritization comprises a constant time delay plus a bit-time delay proportional to an accessing device's address identification (Fig. 5). Finally, there is provided an optimized method of inter-device (120, 140, 150, 180, 190, 200) message addressing and handshaking in a multi-access, bussed system, each device having a source and destination address, comprising addressing a message to a destination address and awaiting the addressed destination device to acknowledge by echoing its corresponding source address and also monitoring the bus (230) for an announcement of a source addressed event and performing a function accordingly.
