Wear behaviour of thermally sprayed ceramic oxide coatings
TL;DR: In this paper, the wear resistance of plasma-sprayed ceramics has been investigated through pin-on-disk and dry sand-steel wheel tests, has been correlated to microstructural and micromechanical characteristics (microhardness, fracture toughness) and has been compared to well-known platings (such as Cr electroplating and electroless Ni).
Journal ArticleDOI
Design, obtainment and properties of glasses and glass-ceramics from coal fly ash
Luisa Barbieri,Isabella Lancellotti,Tiziano Manfredini,Ignasi Queralt,JesùsMa Rincon,Maximina Romero +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, glass and glass-ceramics were obtained by mixing up to 50% of Italian or Spanish coal fly ash with other wastes (glass cullet and float dolomite).
Journal ArticleDOI
Recycling of industrial wastes in ceramic manufacturing: State of art and glass case studies
TL;DR: In this article, the state of the art of industrial waste recycling in the ceramic sector is reported, with the focus on review studies related to both ceramic tiles and bricks, and two case studies conducted by the authors with the aim to formulate ceramic bodies using alternative raw materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Syntheses of Fe2O3/Silica Red Inorganic Inclusion Pigments for Ceramic Applications
TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of red inorganic ceramic pigments by inclusion of hematite in a fumed silica matrix was studied and a continuos change in colour was measured by comparing L-a-b values of the calcined samples and more information were obtained by the Kubelka-Munk absorption function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancing the mechanical properties of porcelain stoneware tiles: a microstructural approach
Cristina Leonelli,Federica Bondioli,Paolo Veronesi,Marcello Romagnoli,Tiziano Manfredini,Gian Carlo Pellacani,Valeria Cannillo +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the complexities of the microstructure and phase development in porcelain stoneware tiles produced following industrial fast single firing cycles were investigated, and a microstructural investigation was conducted to determine if the addition of selected low-cost minerals would improve mechanical properties.
