PURPOSE: To obtain a solution improving contact lens wearing feel, excellent in contamination-proofness, hydrophilicity and safety, thus useful as artificial lacrima, etc., containing each specific polymer component, inorganic chloride, buffering agent and chelating agent at specified proportions. CONSTITUTION: This solution for contact lens contains (A) 0.01-5(w/v)% of a polymer component obtained by polymerizing a (meth)acrylate of the formula [R 1 is H or methyl: R 2 is (CH 2 CHR 4 ) n or (CH 2 CHR 4 O)-CH 2 CHR 4 (R 4 is H or methyl; (n) is 1-8); R 3 is an 1-8C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl] or copolymerizing this (meth)acrylate with a copolymerizable vinyl monomer, (B) 0.01-1.5(w/v)% of an inorganic chloride selected from sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride and mixtures thereof, (C) 0.01-1.5(w/v)% of a buffering agent such as hydrochloric acid and (D) 0-1.0(w/v)% of a chelating agent such as citric acid. Solution for contact lenses

A contact lens cleaning solution which can readily and simultaneously conduct hydrophilization and cleaning of proteinaceous stains of contact lenses and does not lower the detergency of a protease; and a method for simultaneously conducting hydrophilization and cleaning of proteinaceous stains of contact lenses by using the above cleaning solution. The objective cleaning solution comprises a protease in an amount effective in removing proteins deposited or adhered to contact lenses and gum arabic as a hydrophilizing component, and divalent metal ions in the gum arabic are removed or inactivated. Contact lenses are immersed in this solution to remove the proteins deposited or adhered to the lenses and, at the same time, to hydrophilize the lens surfaces.

Contact lens cleaning solution and method for cleaning contact lenses using the same

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive cornea-protecting agent having high effects for repairing corneal problem; and to provide a composition for ophthalmology. SOLUTION: The cornea-protecting agent contains a hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) having proliferation effects of corneal epithelial cell, and chondroitin sulfuric acid or a salt thereof as active ingredients. Composition for ophthalmology

PURPOSE: To allow the safe and simple execution of the treatment for hydrophilicity impartation of the contact lens by consisting this soln. of an aq. soln. contg. gum arabic as a hydrophilicity impartation component and forming this aq. soln. so as not to contain a surfactant. CONSTITUTION: The gum arabic is used as the hydrophilicity impartation component of the contact lens. Namely, the gum arabic is absorbed extremely well even on the surface of the contact lens having a high hydrophobic property. The gum arabic is no longer absorbed on the lens surface in the case when the surfactant is made to coexist therein. The content of the gum arabic is preferably specified to 0.1 to 10.0wt.% and more preferably to about 0.3 to 5.0wt.%. The surface of the contact lens having the high hydrophobic property, such as non-hydrous contact lens having high oxygen permeability is well imparted with the hydrophilicity in this way in accordance with the absorption of the gum arabic.
