Separation of furans and carboxylic acids from sugars in dilute acid rice straw hydrolyzates by nanofiltration.
Yu-Hsiang Weng,Hwa-Jou Wei,Hwa-Jou Wei,Tsung-Yen Tsai,Ting-Hsiang Lin,Tsong-Yang Wei,Gia-Luen Guo,Chin-Pao Huang +7 more
TL;DR: This work studied the concentration of hydrolyzates obtained from dilute acid hydrolysis of rice straw using nanofiltration (NF) in order to minimize the Donnan exclusion effect of the membrane, the Hydrolyzate solution was controlled at low pH value.
Journal ArticleDOI
Separation of acetic acid from xylose by nanofiltration
Yu-Hsiang Weng,Yu-Hsiang Weng,Hwa-Jou Wei,Hwa-Jou Wei,Tsung-Yen Tsai,Wei-Hsi Chen,Tsong-Yang Wei,Wen-Song Hwang,Chia-Pao Wang,Chin-Pao Huang +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a Desal-5 DK nanofiltration (NF) membrane was used to separate acetic acid from xylose, using a synthetic acid-xylose solution as the model.

Method of simultaneously concentrating and detoxifying sugars before fermentation
TL;DR: In this article, a method for concentrating sugars and decreasing fermentation inhibitor concentrations simultaneously before fermentation is disclosed, which includes the steps of adjusting the pH value of a hydrozylate containing sugars and fermentation inhibitors, separating solid and liquid in the hydroZylate, for removing large particles in the solution; and applying a semi-permeable membrane, for concentrating the sugars and increasing the total concentration of the fermentation inhibitors in the hyrozylates, so as to obtain a concentrated solution.
