Mechanism of the piezoelectricity of langasite based on the crystal structures

TL;DR: In this article, the crystal structures of three kinds of langasite family crystals (R =La, Pr and Nd) were clarified by X-ray diffraction analysis and the reason why the piezoelectric properties improved with the increase of the ionic radius of R on the basis of these structural differences.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanism of Piezoelectricity for Langasite Based on the Framework Crystal Structure

TL;DR: In this article, the role of the framework in the discovery of new piezoelectric materials is discussed, and the authors recommend the search of framework crystal structure, because the characteristic of the mechanism exists on the framework of the crystal structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Crystal Structure and Piezoelectric Properties of Four Component Langasite A 3 B Ga 3 Si 2 O 14 (A = Ca or Sr, B = Ta or Nb)

TL;DR: In this paper, the LGS crystal with the -type crystal structure is synthesized and the crystal structure was analyzed by Mill et al. It has a larger electromechanical coupling factor compared to quartz and also nearly the same temperature stability as quartz.
Journal ArticleDOI

Piezoelectric properties of langasite group based on the ionic size of cation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the three-and four-element compounds on the coordinates of oxygen ions using a single crystal X-ray diffraction and showed that the piezoelectric constant increases with the ionic radius R.
