With respect to a centrifugal water vapor compressor having discharged sealing water that has a higher pressure than atmospheric pressure, the objective of the present invention is to provide a simple configuration wherein a high-pressure piping system is omitted from the sealing water circulation system as much as possible. This shaft seal system (50) is capable of supplying high-pressure sealing water and low-pressure sealing water. The shaft seal system is equipped with: a circulation water reservoir (240) that stores circulation water; a positive displacement pump (200) that draws circulation water from this reservoir and is capable of supplying the sealing water to a first pressure adjustment valve (290) provided in a high-pressure-side sealing water line (330) of a centrifugal compressor (100), and to a second pressure-adjustment valve (300) provided in a low-pressure-side sealing water line (310) of the centrifugal compressor; an accumulator (210) arranged between the positive displacement pump and the first and second pressure adjustment valves; return pipes (315, 316, 335, 336) that return sealing water to the circulation water reservoir after a seal means of the centrifugal compressor has been water-sealed; and decompression means (313, 314, 333, 334) interposed midway along the length of the return pipes.

In a centrifugal steam compressor having sealing water discharge at pressure higher than atmospheric pressure, a simple structure in which a high-pressure piping system is omitted as much as possible from a sealing water circulation system is realized. A shaft seal system 50 is capable of supplying high-pressure sealing water and low-pressure sealing water. PURPOSE:To maintain a quantity of cooling water to a fixed level even if a pump causes a change of its suction pressure, by independently arranging a pressure reducing device in supply inlets of cooling water to a multistage mechanical seal and providing a channeling system which bypasses the mechanical seal from its cooling water outlet in a low pressure side to the cooling water inlet in a high pressure side. CONSTITUTION:A supply device of cooling water provides pressure reducing devices 8-11 in a cooling waterway system to mechanical seals 4, 5, provided in a rotary shaft 3, while a passage, which bypasses the mechanical seal through a check valve 12 and the pressure reducing device 11, between an inlet of the mechanical seal 4 and an outlet of the mechanical seal 5. Accordingly, a chamber pressure of the mechanical seals 4, 5 comes to be almost in a fixed level by opening the check valve 12 if the suction pressure of a pump decreases. As a result, the supply device can hold the cooling water to a fixed quantity even if the pump causes a change in its suction pressure.

PURPOSE:To maintain a wear ring concentric with the casing at anytime by employing an oval chip having a parallel section in place of a circular chip when fixing a wear ring of high temperature pump. CONSTITUTION:A wear ring 2 is fixed through a micro gap 5 to the casing 1 facing with an impeller 3 of high temperature pump, where the fixing means of wear ring 2 to the casing 1 are the rectangular boards 4a, 4b. Upon temperature rise of pump, rattling will occur at the matching face because of different linear expansion factors of wear ring 2 and casing 1, but the rattling is restricted by the boards 4a, 4b respectively in the up/down direction and the horizontal direction to uniform the gap. Consequently, even upon occurrence of rattling, the wear ring 2 can be maintained concentric with the casing 1.
