The aim of this paper is to automate the car and the car parking as well. It discusses a project which presents a miniature model of an automated car parking system that can regulate and manage the number of cars that can be parked in a given space at any given time based on the availability of parking spot. Automated parking is a method of parking and exiting cars using sensing devices. The entering to or leaving from the parking lot is commanded by an Android based application.

This paper describes the design and development of a system for household appliance control using cell phone through global system for mobile communication (GSM) technology. The cellular communications is a potential solution for such remote controlling activities. SMS (short message service) technology can be used to control household appliances from distance. Remotely, the system allows the home owner to monitor and control the home appliances via mobile phone set by sending commands in the form of SMS messages and receiving the appliances status as well. The proposed system makes use of wireless control hence can be effectively used in systems were unwired connections are desired. The system uses the user's mobile handset for control and therefore the system is more adaptable and cost-effective and also providing ubiquitous access for appliance control.

Embedded system for home automation using SMS

This research focuses on detection of unauthorized access to residential and commercial buildings when the residents are far away from the access gate of the house. The system is a simple and reliable touch activated security system and uses sensor technology to revolutionize the standards of living. The system provides a best solution to most of the problems faced by house owners in their daily life. Due to its simple electronic components nature, it is more adaptable and cost-effective. The system is divided into three units; the power supply unit which employs the use of both DC battery and mains supply to ensure constant power supply to the circuit, the trigger unit which is responsible for activating the alarm unit and designed to have much time and period and moderate sensitivity in order to reduce the rate of false alarm, and the alarm amplitude unit which main function is to produce amplitude alarm sound when triggered by the trigger unit with the aim of producing a large audible sound that can alert the entire neighborhood or scare an intruder away. The design of the system was achieved by considering some factors such as economy, availability of components and research materials, efficiency, compatibility and portability and also durability in the design process. The performance of the system after test met design specifications. This system works on the principle of touch sensor. The general operation of the system and performance is dependent on the presence of an intruder entering through the door and touching any part of the door. The overall system was constructed and tested and it work perfectly.

A Simple and Reliable Touch Sensitive Security System

This paper proposed an effective monitoring and controlling system for bank locker rooms which is completely autonomous. The security system is designed to detect the illegal entrance in the bank locker room areas that commonly happens in cases of the robberies. The major concern with current manually supervised security system is that if the robbery occurs then the banks are not been able to identify the robbers due to lack of proof. The system will focus on the safety of the bank locker rooms in an effective way by detecting and controlling unauthorized motion. The proposed security system will save the images whenever the motion will be detected that can be used in future for investigation The system will communicate the image data continuously to the remote location control rooms using web based monitoring through local area network (LAN) and can also send the warning text short message service (SMS) to the operator using GSM technique.

Safeguarding our home appliances has become an issue when dealing with an advancement and growth of an economy. This research focuses on the controlling of home appliances remotely when the user is away from the house. The system is Short Message Service (SMS) based and uses wireless technology to revolutionize the standards of living. It provides ideal solution to certain problems faced by home owners in daily life. Due to its wireless nature, it is more adaptable and cost-effective. The research is divided into two sections; the hardware and the software sections. The hardware section consists of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) modem module, The Control module, the Appliance module, the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) module and the power supply module. The GSM modem receives the message sent by the person who wishes to operate any of the connected appliances, it then forwards it to the microcontroller, and the microcontroller decodes the message, switches on or switches off the appropriate appliance, updates the LCD and sends a feedback to the mobile phone via the GSM modem. Overall, the work employs The ATmega16 microcontroller, relays, a programmer to program the microcontroller, a mobile phones and a GSM modem. The AT commands is used to handle communication between the modem and the ATmega16 microcontroller. Flow code is used for the programming of the microcontroller. The overall work was implemented with a constructed work, tested working and perfectly functional.
