A selectively operable storage system incorporated within the passenger compartment of an automotive vehicle is described. The storage system is preferably deployed underneath the rear seat structure, for example, below the seat bottom structure. The storage system can include any number and combination of selectively operable sliding trays, pivoting trays, collapsible trays, pivoting lids, storage bins, and track systems.

A computer dock for use in a vehicle has a retainer body suitable for mounting in the vehicle. A moveable member is moveable with respect to the body from a retracted position within the body to an extended position, and a mounting on the moveable members retains a notebook computer. The dock has a plurality of cables for connecting power from the vehicle and for connecting a cell phone and other facilities in the vehicle to the computer.

Detachable bottle and food holding subtrays, clips and support attachments for juvenile chairs such as highchairs, strollers, booster chairs, car seats and activity chairs. The clips can be a snapable C-shape, use a screwable post or a spring biased post for attachment to an existing tray. Removable lids and removable bottle sizing rings can be used. Pre-attached clips can be pre-molded directly to the existing tray. Alternatively, clips can be attached by hook and loop fasteners or peel and stick tape. A drawer type subtray can slide in and out from the existing tray. Alternatively, a pivoting arm can be folded out from the existing tray. The clips, supports, drawers and arms can be used to support and/or hold items such as food out of reach of sitting children, and/or can keep items such as mirrors and toys at selected locations within reach of the sitting child.

A cup holder (10) has an elongated drawer movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The retracted position is within the housing (12). The extended position is outside the housing (12). The drawer (24) has a support platform which is pivotally secured to the drawer (24). The support platform (28) pivots between a non-supporting position when the drawer (24) is in the retracted position and a supporting position when the drawer (24) is in the extended position. A stabilizing arm is also secured to the drawer (24) and pivots between a non-stabilizing position when the drawer (24) is in the retracted position and a stabilizing position when the drawer (24) is in the extended position. Secured to the support platforms (28, 30) and the stabilizing arms are rods which have support and stabilizing pins extending out therefrom. The rods travel in slots cut out of vertical side walls of the housing. Because the slots have ramp angles, the support platforms (28, 30) and the stabilizing arms pivot between the use and non-use positions as the drawer (24) is moved between its retracted position and its extended position. The stabilizing arm (56, 58) includes an aperture through which the support platform (28) pivots allowing the compact design of the drawer (24) assembly while having a support platform (28) in the stabilizing arm (56) aligned on top of each other so that a cup may be supported by the support platform (28) and stabilized by the stabilizing arm (56) when they are in the use positions.

A holding device for a beverage container intended for installation in a holdable arm rest in a motor vehicle, has a carriage guidable as a drawer to be displaceable back and forth between a pushed-in position and a pulled-out position so that a beverage container can be inserted into the holding device when the carriage is in the pulled-out position, a guide for guiding the carriage during its displacement between the positions, a gravity locking device which locks the carriage in the pushed-in position when the carriage is not in an approximately horizontal position.

A holder for drink containers in a motor vehicle has a slider member that can be pulled out and on which are mounted pivot arms which, when pulled out, pivot laterally outward, and which, with cut-away portions in the slider member, form insertion openings for drink containers, and has supports which pivot downwards when the slider member is pulled out. In order to support securely drink containers of different sizes which are inserted, the supports are pivoted outward, forcibly controlled, by the pivot arms through half the pivot angle of the pivot arms.

Pull-out sliding unit for installation in a motor vehicle has a sliding unit that can be pulled out like a drawer, which may, for example, be constructed as a drinks holder or as a tray surface, provided for installation in a fascia of a motor vehicle. In order to be able to remove the sliding unit easily from the device and exchange it, a sliding block engages the sliding unit and disengages by two wedges onto which the sliding block slides when the sliding unit, after being unlocked, is pulled out of the device beyond its open position.

The pull-out insertion has a sliding block (36) which is displaceably introduced into a guide (34) extending parallel to the insertion (12), and in engagement with the insertion. The travel limiter (28,30) is releasable. The insertion unit has a lift-out device (58) which brings the sliding block out of contact with the insertion if the insertion is pulled out beyond the travel limiter. The lift-out device has an inclined surface (60) or a curved surface.

In limited spatial conditions in a motor vehicle, a base plate 6 for a car telephone is mounted in the region next to the central part of the vehicle and partially in front of a glove compartment 9 in such a way that, when access to the compartment is required, the baseplate 6 can be pivoted or pushed out of the opening region of the folding door 4 of the glove compartment 9.
