Journal ArticleDOI
Reducing image variability across OCT devices with unsupervised unpaired learning for improved segmentation of retina.
David Romo-Bucheli,Philipp Seeböck,José Ignacio Orlando,Bianca S. Gerendas,Sebastian M. Waldstein,Ursula Schmidt-Erfurth,Hrvoje Bogunovic +6 more
TL;DR: Results show that the learned translation models improve the generalization ability of segmentation models to other OCT-vendors/domains not seen during training and relationships between model hyper-parameters and the realism as well as the morphological consistency of the generated images could be identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three-dimensional imaging of pigment epithelial detachment in age-related macular degeneration using optical coherence tomography, retinal thickness analysis and topographic angiography.
TL;DR: TAG OCT and RTA are useful imaging modalities in the evaluation of AMD cases and OCT seems to be more efficient in imaging AMD-related pathologies than RTA, as this modality is often compromised by intra- or subretinal structural abnormalities.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of choroidal hypoperfusion associated with photodynamic therapy in neovascular age-related macular degeneration and the consequences for combination strategies.
TL;DR: Ongoing evaluation in randomized clinical trials will provide further clarification on the effect of verteporfin plus ranibizumab compared with ranibIZumab monotherapy in terms of visual acuity, anatomical outcomes, treatment frequency, and health economics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative comparison of macular segmentation performance using identical retinal regions across multiple spectral-domain optical coherence tomography instruments
Sebastian M. Waldstein,Bianca S. Gerendas,Alessio Montuoro,Christian Simader,Ursula Schmidt-Erfurth +4 more
TL;DR: By comparison of identical regions, substantial differences were detected between the tested OCT devices regarding technical accuracy and clinical impact.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of systemic bevacizumab therapy on retinal pigment epithelial detachment.
TL;DR: In the examined nine patients, systemic bevacizumab therapy showed evidence for an effect on PED secondary to neovascular AMD in terms of a decrease in lesion height and diameter.
