This paper deals with the miniaturization of fractal antenna by using novel Giuseppe peano fractal antenna for wireless applications. The antenna is designed on FR4 glass epoxy substrate with dielectric constant 4.4 and thickness 1.6mm. The resonant frequency of 4GHz is used to design the proposed antenna. Iterations of proposed antenna are designed and fabricated to analyze the different antenna parameters such as return loss, gain, VSWR etc. The 1st iteration of antenna resonates on 3.61GHz, 6.20GHz and 8.43GHz frequency band and 2nd iteration resonates on 2.10GHz, 2.85GHz, 5.158GHz and 9.11GHz. Resonant frequencies for both the iterations of antenna are reduced considerably without changing antenna dimensions which shows that the miniaturization is achieved. Proposed antenna is designed and simulated by using HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) V13 software. Both the iterations of antenna are fabricated and tested using VNA. Measured results are compared with simulated results and both are in agreement with each other. The designed antenna can be used for different wireless applications such as WLAN (4.82– 5.95GHz), bluetooth (2.12–2.95GHz), X-band (8–12GHz) etc.

Miniaturization of fractal antenna using novel Giuseppe peano geometry for wireless applications

In the present paper, a simple and compact a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-Fed hexagonal antenna has been presented. The proposed antenna is composed of a new fractal shaped slot with a hexagonal patch fed. The total size of the presented antenna is 14.5×16.5 mm2, which is designed on Rogers RO4350B substrate and having dielectric constant e r =3.66, a thickness of h=1.524 and loss tangent of 0.004. The impedance bandwidth, defined by −10 dB reflection coefficient. Hence, the simulated results get a proper agreement with an impedance bandwidth of 2.98 GHz to 11.4 GHz. The investigated antenna is suitable for UWB applications. The design validation of the fractal antenna has been achieved by using CST Microwave studio.

A compact CPW-Fed hexagonal antenna with a new fractal shaped slot for UWB communications

This work presents the analysis of monopole microstrip antennas with truncated ground plane and patch geometry inspired on the Mandelbrot fractal curve for applications in UWB systems. The proposed antenna geometry is analyzed using the Wave Concept Iterative Procedure (WCIP), a full-wave method. Results for the proposed antenna operating frequency, bandwidth, VSWR, gain, and radiation pattern are obtained and discussed. The WCIP results are compared with simulation results provided by HFSS software, for validation purpose. In addition, a prototype antenna is built and measured. A good match between WCIP theoretical and simulation, HFSS simulation, and measurement results is observed for the antenna frequency response.

Iterative full-wave analysis of mandelbrot-inspired fractal patch antenna on textile substrate for UWB applications

In this article we present a study of different models with fractal geometry implemented in Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) antennas design. With different methods and geometric variants applied to this type of antennas, frequency ranges between 1-20GHz are obtained, generating an efficiency greater than 90% in its operating band, considering the variation of different parameters such as iterations, shape, slots, among other things; Bandwidths greater than 15GHz have been achieved, this has generated a wide range of applications for fractal antennas. An analysis was carried out based on the similarity of the models, the operating ranges, and the constructive characteristics, with the aim of improving bandwidth, efficiency, and radiation properties, generating options that will serve as a starting point for the development and design of antennas in the future.

Recents Designs of Ultra Wide Band Antennas using Fractal Geometry: A Review

According to the antenna theory, the main advantage of micro strip patch antennas (MPA) are low profile, applicable to planar and non planar surfaces, uncomplicated and cheap to fabricate using current printed circuit technology. Therefore in this modern era micro strip patch antenna widely use in communication accessories. In this paper survey of some previous years shows that the various antenna design methods for ultra wideband range like edge tapering slot cutting U-shape, DGS based micro strip patch antennas, patch antenna with partial ground plane, parasitic patch antenna, fractal antenna and reconfigurable antennas. According to the presented study of these antennas for UWB range regulated on single band, double band and multi band frequencies.

A Review of Micro-strip Patch antenna for UWB Frequency Range

In this paper a low profile compact CPW fed fractal patch antenna is proposed for UWB applications. Slotted circular shape is iterated using fractal geometry that exhibits a wider bandwidth and reduced returnloss. Bandwidth is extended using ground plate modifications and outer circular radius tuning techniques. The low cost dielectric material FR4 (e=4.4) is used as substrate. The proposed antenna is simulated in FEM method using Ansoft HFSS v.13. Overall size of the miniaturized antenna is 30*32.4*1.6mm3 with operating frequency band from 1.6–10.4 GHz. Bandwidth is 8.8 GHz measured from −10dB and VSWR = 2. Input impedance is 50Ω and it exhibits the omni directional pattern. Finally it is found to be suitable for UWB low profile applications.

Design of a microstrip fractal patch antenna for UWB applications

A small metamaterial notch-antenna with band reject at 3.5 and 4.4 GHz is proposed by introducing reactance to balanced composite left-right unit cell, thus making it non-resonant at the desired frequency without any change in overall size. Simulations were carried on HFSS and antenna with notch band implemented on RT\Duroid substrate. The type I and type II CRLH metamaterial notch-antenna illustrate that the antenna notches at 3.5 and 4.4 GHz, with VSWR > 2. Such filters suitable for UWB application where there is interference.
