Journal ArticleDOI

Proliferative Inflammatory Atrophy of the Prostate : Implications for Prostatic Carcinogenesis

TL;DR: De Marzo et al. as discussed by the authors used immunohistochemistry to characterize the phenotype of the atrophic cells to assess the feasibility of the proposal that they may be targets of neoplastic transformation.
Journal Article

Abnormal Regulation of DNA Methyltransferase Expression during Colorectal Carcinogenesis

TL;DR: The results indicate that human colorectal carcinogenesis is accompanied by a progressive dysregulation of DNMT1 expression and suggest that abnormalities in DN MT1 expression may contribute to the abnormal CpG dinucleotide methylation changes characteristic of human colorescent carcinoma cell DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI

MDR1 Promoter Hypermethylation in MCF-7 Human Breast Cancer Cells: Changes in Chromatin Structure Induced by Treatment with 5-Aza-Cytidine

TL;DR: The role of DNA hypermethylation near the MDR1 transcriptional regulatory region in MDR 1 expression in MCF-7 breast cancer cells, which fail to express MDR2 mRNA, and MCf-7/ADR cells, known to express high M DR1 mRNA levels is assessed.
