In this book, Andrew Harvey sets out to provide a unified and comprehensive theory of structural time series models. Unlike the traditional ARIMA models, structural time series models consist explicitly of unobserved components, such as trends and seasonals, which have a direct interpretation. As a result the model selection methodology associated with structural models is much closer to econometric methodology. The link with econometrics is made even closer by the natural way in which the models can be extended to include explanatory variables and to cope with multivariate time series. From the technical point of view, state space models and the Kalman filter play a key role in the statistical treatment of structural time series models. The book includes a detailed treatment of the Kalman filter. This technique was originally developed in control engineering, but is becoming increasingly important in fields such as economics and operations research. This book is concerned primarily with modelling economic and social time series, and with addressing the special problems which the treatment of such series poses. The properties of the models and the methodological techniques used to select them are illustrated with various applications. These range from the modellling of trends and cycles in US macroeconomic time series to to an evaluation of the effects of seat belt legislation in the UK.

Forecasting, Structural Time Series Models and the Kalman Filter

The paper describes the integrated processing method of heterogeneous information resources of web systems, which allows for further integration and management. Our method involves the decomposition of the overall process on subprocesses of value integration, data syntax, semantics, and structure. The advantage of this approach to integration processes is the ability to execute them at the metadata level. It allows reducing the number of hits to the data of web systems, the volumes of which can be significant. The paper presents a model of the content life cycle in web systems. The model describes the processes of processing information resources in web systems and simplifies the technology of integrated automation and content management. In this work, the main problems of functional services of integration and content management were analyzed. The proposed method gives the opportunity to create tools for working out of information resources in web systems and implement the subsystem of integration and content management.

Method of Integration and Content Management of the Information Resources Network

In this paper, we explore the task of intellectual information system creation for content formation. We developed the general recommendations for design of the intellectual system. Our system has special modules for processing of information resources. We created the software for formation, control, and implementation of content and made experiments on “Online newspaper” and “Online magazine” systems. The comparative analysis showed that the architecture offered by us and modules of content processing, which we used at all stages of work, positively affected information resources.

Intellectual system design for content formation

In the solution of urgent scientific task of the research and development of methods and means of processing of information resources in electronic content commerce system (ECCS) using the developed classification, mathematical software and the generalized architecture of ECCS. Researched and improved classification of ECCS based on the analysis and evaluation of such systems, which allowed to define, refine and justify their choice of functionality for the design of content lifecycle.

Process analysis in electronic content commerce system

The tremendous growth rates of Internet and volume of content stored on its servers requires the creation of tools for automatic content analysis and processing. Intelligent systems for content processing aim to simplify and automate such tasks as content analysis and classification, finding keywords and building digests, distributing content according to specified criteria. This paper presents the results of a study of patterns, characteristics and dependencies in automatic text processing of commercial content. Data and information flows in processes of commercial content transformation are elucidated and formalized. The methods of linguistic analysis are proposed for automation of all operations of content processing. A content management system built using developed methods is constantly monitoring content from various sources, gathers and integrates content and distributes it to customers. The implementation of proposed methods and procedures allows effectively create and distribute content for targeted social audience and individual customers.
