Abstract: Anodic oxidation of 2-amino-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole 1 was studied at a pyrolytic graphite electrode, over a wide pH range 2.23–10.7 in phosphate buffers, by various electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. Compound 1 undergoes a 2e–, 2H+ oxidation process to give an electroactive azo product which has been characterised, and a suitable mechanism for the electro-oxidation process is suggested.

Abstract: The reaction of O-(2,4-dinitrophenyl) cyclopentanone oxime with four primary alkylamines and a secondary arylamine, pyrrolidine, in benzene has been investigated. In pyrrolidinolysis, a third order dependence on [amine] has been observed, which has been explained on the basis of a cyclic transition state. The aminolysis with primary alkyl amines shows a normal dependence of second order on [amine].
