Journal ArticleDOI

Therapy-related acute lymphoblastic leukemia has distinct clinical and cytogenetic features compared to de novo acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but outcomes are comparable in transplanted patients.

TL;DR: Although survival of therapy-related acute lymphoblastic leukemia was inferior to de novo cases, allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation outcomes were comparable for the two entities and prior exposure to cytotoxic therapy (therapy-related) did not independently impact survival in multivariate analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implications and Management of Central Nervous System Involvement before Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

TL;DR: There was no clear benefit of CNS-directed therapy in the peri-transplantation period among patients who had prior CNS involvement and underwent subsequent alloHCT, and neither pretransplantation cranial irradiation, use of total body irradiation-based conditioning, nor post-trans transplantation prophylactic intrathecal chemotherapy were associated with a reduction of CNS relapse risk after transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The emerging story of acute lymphoblastic leukemia among the Latin American population - biological and clinical implications.

TL;DR: The increasing amount of empirical information on the epidemiology, outcomes and genomics of Latinos with ALL is critically examined, and an association between polymorphisms that are commonly found in indigenous Americans and high rates of ALL is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pamidronate for bone pain from osteolytic lesions in Langerhans'-cell histiocytosis.

TL;DR: A 23-year-old woman with Langerhans'-cell histiocytosis presented with severe pain in the right iliac crest and right shoulder of three months' duration and had partial relief of morphine sulfate.
