Correlation and path analysis studies for yield and horticultural traits in coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) under eastern dry zone of Karnataka.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) cultivars S-33, RD-44, and CO-2 were tested to determine the effect of number and timing of dinocap treatments on powdery mildew (Erysiphe polygoni DC) and essential oil yields. Generally, four and three applications of dinocap provided satisfactory control of the disease in the late- and early-maturing cultivars, respectively. However, these could be further reduced to three and two if the sprays are timed at flowering (F), seed formation (SF), and full fruiting (FF) stages in the late-maturing cultivars and at SF and FF stages in the early-maturing cultivars. Yield of these plots were statistically at par with the preventive fungicide treatment (applications at 10-day intervals from the pre-flowering stage until maturity). The results also indicated that pre-flowering applications did not contribute much in managing the disease.

Effect of number of timing of application of dinocap on control of powdery mildew and yield of coriander cultivars

Coriander seeds collected from different growing regions were examined for their physical values
and chemical composition. TLC studies of the volatile oils from dilfenmt varieties showed variations
in the constituents of the oils. Coriander seeds were roasted at 12S", IS0° nnd 195'Cand were analysed
for their chemica! composition. Light roasted (I2SCC) seeds had superior flavour than the medium
and dark roasted seeds.

EVALUATION OF FENUGREEK (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) GENOTYPES

Five ajowan (Trachyspermum ammi L.) introductions (RA-6, HAJ-S-I, RA-2, RA-7 and RA-4) and a local cultivar were evaluated for their growth, yield and quality under alluvial zone of West Bengal (India). Among the introductions, RA-2 exhibited superiority over other introductions in respect of morphological characters such as plant height, number of primary branches per plant and number of leaves per plant and seed yield. The essential oil content was significantly higher in local cultivar (4.53%), while essential oil yield per hectare was significantly higher in RA-7 (14.50 kg) which was on par with RA-4 (14.13 kg).
