Vaccine effectiveness of heterologous CoronaVac plus BNT162b2 in Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper , a test-negative design study involving almost 14 million people was conducted to estimate the effectiveness of CoronaVac over time and BNT162b2 booster vaccination against RT-PCR-confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and severe COVID-19 outcomes (hospitalization or death).
Journal Article

Parasite-driven in vitro human lymphocyte cytotoxicity against autologous infected macrophages from mucosal leishmaniasis.

TL;DR: The observation of parasite-driven autologous cytotoxic responses in patients with ML, the destructive form of leishmaniasis, but not in CL, suggests that this phenomenon is involved in tissue pathology rather than in protection, relevant to strategies aimed at limiting pathologic tissue destruction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is highly sensitive for diagnosis of mucosal leishmaniasis

TL;DR: These findings have led to propose guidelines for the diagnosis of ML that use PCR as the principal method of parasitological confirmation of cases, which are higher than all of the other diagnostic methods studied.
