Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of multilactate chiral part of liquid crystalline molecule on mesomorphic behaviour

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between the molecular chain structure and mesomorphic properties of lactic acid derivatives with particular molecular core forming the polar mesophases is discussed, and the presence of the keto group increases the temperature range and values of the spontaneous polarisation of polar liquid crystalline phases.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel type of banana liquid crystals based on 1-substituted naphthalene-2,7-diol cores

TL;DR: The effect of lateral 1-substitution in naphthalene-2,7-diol with CH3, CN and Cl on mesomorphic properties is studied in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

New series of ferroelectric liquid crystals with two or three chiral centres exhibiting antiferroelectric and hexatic phases

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of liquid crystals with a chiral chain containing two asymmetric carbon atoms in two lactate groups have been synthesized and characterized by DSC, dielectric, and X-ray studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel liquid crystals based on [1]benzothieno[3,2- b][1]benzothiophene

TL;DR: In this paper, four series of new [1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1] benzothiophene derivatives have been synthesized, and the SmA-SmCA* phase transition was studied using DSC and dielectric spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

New ferroelectric and antiferroelectric liquid crystalline materials containing differing numbers of lactate units

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of chiral liquid crystalline materials having the same rigid core containing a keto group, and various numbers of (S)-lactate groups in the chiral segment, has been synthesized and studied.
