Dynamic slot allocation (DSA) in indoor SDMA/TDMA using a smart antenna basestation

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that significant increases in system capacity are possible using DSA in the indoor situations that were tested and suggested that dynamic slot allocation is possible at the frequency considered, provided turnaround times are in the low-to-mid tens of milliseconds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Power saving access points for IEEE 802-11 wireless network infrastructure

TL;DR: The protocols required to achieve backward compatible IEEE 802.11 functionality and existing wired access points are introduced, the constraints imposed by this restriction are shown, and performance results for the proposed system are presented.

Mobile wireless communications device with human interface diversity antenna and related methods

TL;DR: In this paper, a human interface diversity controller is connected to the wireless transceiver to preferentially operate with the plurality of antennas based upon a relative position of the portable handheld housing with respect to a hand of a human user.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamically Anchored Conferencing Handoff for Dual-Mode Cellular/WLAN Handsets

TL;DR: This paper considers conferenced dual-mode handoff and proposes a much more scalable mechanism whereby active calls are handed off into the conference bridge just prior to the initiation of the vertical handoff.
