Journal ArticleDOI
Cell Wall and Secreted Proteins of Candida albicans: Identification, Function, and Expression
TL;DR: Surface mannoproteins are strong immunogens that trigger and modulate the host immune response during candidiasis and may play a role in morphogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Candida albicans Cell Wall Proteins
TL;DR: The Candida albicans cell wall maintains the structural integrity of the organism in addtion to providing a physical contact interface with the environment through fibrillar polysaccharides and proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-conventional protein secretionin yeast
TL;DR: The accumulated evidence indicates that mechanisms of secretion other than the endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi pathway drive these proteins outside the plasma membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serologic Response to Cell Wall Mannoproteins and Proteins of Candida albicans
TL;DR: A better understanding of the humoral response to cell wall antigens of C. albicans may provide the basis for the development of effective procedures for the serodiagnosis of disseminated candidiasis and novel prophylactic and therapeutic strategies for the management of this type of infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role for Cell Density in Antifungal Drug Resistance in Candida albicans Biofilms
TL;DR: It is suggested that cell density has a role in the phenotypic resistance of biofilm, that neither the drug efflux pumps tested nor quorum sensing through Chk1p contributes to resistance, and that azole drug tolerance at high cell density differs mechanistically from tolerance at low cell density.
