The results of an exploratory case study dedicated to a BIM project are presented and the perception that professionals have of their practices and the BIM collaboration processes is discussed in this study. It suggests that the roles of BIM specialists are not the same from one discipline to another and that they are not just technical roles. In addition, the information subprocess seems to crystallize around BIM managers, which tends to create two sources of leadership in a project: BIM managers and project managers. Finally, the study shows a gap between the planned processes and those actually used in the project. The use of a big room, to bring together the owner and the other disciplines, seems to be particularly useful. It serves as an integrator, and information is better shared.

Practices and Processes in BIM Projects: An Exploratory Case Study

Scientific interest in the leadership process has increasingly paid attention to the issues of ethics and integrity. Communities served by leaders are demanding a more ethical and inclusive leadership style. The purpose of this research proposal is to examine the relationship between ethics orientations and integrity types, as independent variables, and Peruvian managers’ leadership styles, as the dependent variable. The research method involves a literature review of leadership theories, leadership styles, ethical orientations, and integrity types. The research model includes transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles; deontological and teleological ethical orientations; and intelligence and moral integrity types. The study will use a quantitative approach with hypotheses related to the relationships between variables. The empirical examination will be applied to Peruvian managers. The psychometric instruments will be the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5x - MLQ 5x (Bass & Avolio, 2004), Ethics Perspective Case Survey (Ampofo, 2004), Perceived Leader Integrity Scale - PLIS (Craig & Gustafson, 1998 ), and Aronson’s Integrity Questionnaire (Aronson, 2003). Demographic information collected will be age, gender, educational level, and the number of years with the present company. Data analyses will include the use of statistical techniques such as the distribution of frequencies and descriptive statistics such as the median, mode, standard deviation, variance, Cronbach alpha, correlation, factorial analysis, scale of confidence, and multiple regressions. The software, namely, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v.15 ), and AMOS v.6 will be used. The research will test the relationships between deontological and teleological ethical orientations, intellectual and moral integrity types, and leadership styles.

Fuzzy Logic Approach to Risk Assessment Associated with Concrete Deterioration

The general perception which permeates project management education and practice is that planning and control are necessary prerequisites for information systems (IS) project management success. We teach that the better the plan, the better the result. Although this assumption is intuitively plausible, empirical evidence of the relationships between planning and project management success, and control and project management success is not evident. The paucity of empirical research in the field has prompted a derailed investigation into the quantitative effects of the software project plan (SPP) and of project control procedures upon time success. A survey of IS project managers was conducted which suggests that a direct relationship exists between the use of the software project plan as a control and management tool and completion of projects within time budgets. This relationship is unaffected by the comprehensiveness of the software project plan.
