The transformer's protection against internal faults like phase to phase faults, phase to ground faults, and inter-turn faults are provided using the percentage bias differential protection scheme. The paper introduced dual-slope implementation in percentage bias differential relay by considering mal-operation of the percentage bias differential relay against high external fault current and inrush current harmonics. The paper's beginning shows the modeling and analysis of a percentage bias differential protection scheme to protect the 132KV/33KV primary distribution transformer. The issues of a percentage bias differential protection scheme are explained in the middle of the paper. The dual slop algorithm is designed and implemented on a radial distribution system using MATLAB software environment. The results show that the through fault stability of the transformer is improved due to dual-slope implementation. The risk of maloperation of bias differential scheme due to high external fault current and harmonic inrush current is considerably reduced after implementing dual-slope characteristics. The proposed algorithm is practical for deploying in the digital signal controller (DSC) for protection engineers.

Modeling and Implementation of Percentage Bias Differential Relay with Dual-Slope Characteristic

Both university innovation input and industry-university cooperation can affect the innovation output of enterprises to some extent,but existing research has seldom put the two factors into the same framework. Based on the economic statistics of thirteen provinces and cities in China from 2001 to 2010,this paper studies the impacts of university innovation input and industry-university cooperation on the innovation output of large and medium-sized industrial enterprises. The empirical results show that both university innovation input and that the later can positively affect the patent output of enterprises,and industry-university cooperation can improve the marginal contribution of enterprises' innovation capital input to the patent output. Based on the regions with different innovative capacity,the results show that university innovation input can promote the two kinds of innovation output of enterprises in the region with the first level innovative capacity. The industry-university cooperation,as the independent and adjustable variable respectively,can also improve the two kinds of innovation output remarkably inthe region with the first level innovative capacity.While in the region with the second level innovative capacity,its improving effects are mainly embodied on the patent output.

A Spatial Econometric Analysis of Venture Capital, R&D Institutions, Enterprise, University and Knowledge Spillovers

The purpose of this paper is to evalue the effectiveness of the university-based knowledge spillovers in the Triple Helix innovative mode of university-industry-government relations. The data of industrial enterprises of Dalian High-Tech Industrial Park, R&D zone and Dalian University of Technology from 1999 to 2009 was analyzed. Then, based on the improved knowledge production function, the estimation was made using OLS as well as 2SLS regression. The results proved the hypothesis, which is the regional innovative system can benefit from university-based knowledge spillovers, especially from the tacit knowledge spillovers embedded in the higher skilled labor. The dual-cooperation between enterprises and government is not an effective institutional arrangement compared with the Triple Helix mode. A new model describing the knowledge spillover effects in the regional level was proposed and the empirical analysis confirmed its validity.

Analysis and Design of a Novel Broadband Aperture-Coupled Microstrip Antenna

A new differential protection principle for transformer is proposed utilizing calculated power in this paper. It is able to discriminate between inrush and internal fault of transformers with large capacity and extra high voltage, preventing the maloperation due to magnetizing inrush. The calculated power is derived based on two-port network equivalent. An algorithm is presented that is practical for implementing in microcomputer relays. The effectiveness is proved by applying the proposed method to a Y/D-11 two-winding transformer rated 667MVA, 500 /10.5kV by via EMTDC simulation.
