Journal ArticleDOI
Simulating onset and evolution of thermal runaway in Li-ion cells using a coupled thermal and venting model
Jason K. Ostanek,Jason K. Ostanek,Weisi Li,Partha P. Mukherjee,Kyle R. Crompton,Christopher Hacker +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a coupled, thermal and gas generation/venting model was developed for simulating the onset and evolution of thermal runaway in 18650 format Li-ion battery cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Current Interrupt Device and Vent Design for 18650 Format Lithium-ion Battery Caps
TL;DR: In this article, the current interrupt device (CID) and vent mechanism in the cap of 18650 lithium-ion cells decrease thermal runaway risks by electrically isolating the cell upon internal pressure increase and relieving internal pressure before case rupture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simplified Pouch Cell Method for 3-Electrode Re-Testing of Harvested Double-Sided Electrodes From Commercial Lithium-Ion Batteries
Martin A. Dann,Michael P. Hladky,Partha P. Mukherjee,Mukul Parmananda,Hanwei Zhou,Jason K. Ostanek,Weisi Li,Christopher Hacker,Kyle R. Crompton +8 more
