An analysis of DEMATEL approaches for criteria interaction handling within ANP.A classification of the methods related to criteria interaction phenomenon in MADM.Detailed explanations and numerical examples are given.Bibliometric analysis is provided. Majority of the Multiple-Attribute Decision Making (MADM) methods assume that the criteria are independent of each other, which is not a realistic assumption in many real world problems. Several forms of interactions among criteria might occur in real life situations so that more sophisticated/intelligent techniques are required to deal with particular needs of the problem under consideration. Unfortunately, criteria interaction concept is very little issued in the literature. It is still a very important and critical research subject for intelligent decision making within MADM. The present paper aims to put a step forward to fill this gap by depicting the general picture, which provides a classification of methods related to criteria interaction phenomenon, and discuss/review the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Analytical Network Process (ANP) hybridizations first time in the literature. DEMATEL and ANP hybridizations grab remarkable attention of decision analysis community in recent years and seem as one of the most promising approaches to handle criteria interactions in a MADM setting.

An integrated DEMATEL-ANP approach for renewable energy resources selection in Turkey

The main objective of this paper is to present a systematic review of the VlseKriterijuska Optimizacija I Komoromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method in several application areas such as sustainability and renewable energy. This study reviewed a total of 176 papers, published in 2004 to 2015, from 83 high-ranking journals; most of which were related to Operational Research, Management Sciences, decision making, sustainability and renewable energy and were extracted from the “Web of Science and Scopus” databases. Papers were classified into 15 main application areas. Furthermore, papers were categorized based on the nationalities of authors, dates of publications, techniques and methods, type of studies, the names of the journals and studies purposes. The results of this study indicated that more papers on VIKOR technique were published in 2013 than in any other year. In addition, 13 papers were published about sustainability and renewable energy fields. Furthermore, VIKOR and fuzzy VIKOR methods, had the first rank in use. Additionally, the Journal of Expert Systems with Applications was the most significant journal in this study, with 27 publications on the topic. Finally, Taiwan had the first rank from 22 nationalities which used VIKOR technique.

VIKOR Technique: A Systematic Review of the State of the Art Literature on Methodologies and Applications

Display Omitted A review of VIKOR and its fuzzy extensions on applications is presented.The systematic classification covers 13 different application areas.It provides an insight for researchers and practitioners on VIKOR applications. Multi criteria decision making (MCDM) is one of the research areas of operations research and management science which has widely studied by researchers and practitioners. It finds a compromise solution for evaluating and ranking alternatives from the best to the worst under conflicting criteria with respect to decision maker(s) preferences. In a compromise approach, the VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR; that means multi-criteria optimization and compromise solution) continues to be applied satisfactorily across different application areas. This paper conducts a state-of-the-art literature review to categorize, analyze and interpret the current research on VIKOR applications. It also discusses the extensions of VIKOR applied in fuzzy environments. A total of 343 papers are classified into 13 different application areas and a number of sub-application areas. Furthermore, all papers are also categorized with respect to publication year, published journal, country of origin, application type (real case study vs empirical study), and version of fuzzy sets used. This comprehensive literature review provides an insight for researchers and practitioners on VIKOR applications in terms of showing current state and potential areas for future attempts to be focused in the future.

A state of the art literature review of VIKOR and its fuzzy extensions on applications

Decision making techniques have been widely used in healthcare and medical industry. This study systematically reviews the conventional and fuzzy decision-making techniques applied in healthcare and medical problems. In total, we evaluated 202 published studies selected from 85 high-ranking journals, in which 130 of those published studies were directly related to the decision-making processes in healthcare and medical issues. Selected studies were classified into nine application areas: environmental sustainability, waste management, service quality, risk management, medical equipment and material selection, health technology, operation researches in healthcare, hospital healthcare services and other application areas. Furthermore, we classified the selected studies by numerous significant perspectives such as the authors, application areas, utilized techniques, publication time periods, decision-making and study goals, and significant results of the papers. The statistical results show that the year 2012 was ranked first in terms of developed studies within the period of 1989–2018. The techniques of AHP and hybrid approaches were the most frequently implemented decision-making technique in healthcare fields. Notably, the results also show that decision-making approaches and techniques are mostly applied to evaluate and rank different applications of service quality in healthcare and medical industries.

Application of decision making and fuzzy sets theory to evaluate the healthcare and medical problems: A review of three decades of research with recent developments

Based on three merger and acquisition (MA expected stock dividend is ranked as the most important criterion, followed by stock price/earnings per share, stock dividend growth, sales/market capitalization ratio, discount rate, replacement value, and liquidation value. This study uses Vlsekriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) to evaluate the performance of three Taiwanese banks. The results show that Bank B is the best M&A investment choice. Finally, the study establishes a comprehensive M&A decision making evaluation model.

Quality of hospital services is the spotlight that the public are concerned with. This research established an objective and quality index of physical therapies to systematically analyse and propose an innovation strategy for hospital services. This research was to launch the critical index and to investigate the relationship and relative weight of its importance. Analytic network process and Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory were adopted. The result showed experts from different groups universally identified the ‘function-oriented therapeutic goal’ as most important. The result indicates that hospitals enforce ‘regular satisfaction survey of the patients’, continuously monitor ‘index of patient safety’, which is ‘function-oriented therapeutic goal’ to promote quality of physical therapies in children with developmental delays.
