A dentifrice dispensing toothbrush (2) is described which utilizes a compressible elastic button (14) to pump a controlled quantity of dentifrice material from a replaceable cartridge to the brush head (10). In one embodiment, a cover (4) is provided which protects the brush head (10), bristles, pumping mechanism, and other parts of the toothbrush (2). The cover (4) also seals the conduit (26) which supplies dentifrice material to the brush head (10) to prevent it from becoming clogged with dried dentifrice material during periods of nonuse and to prevent accidental compression of the button (14).

The package has a first mode of operation capable of storing the fluid material without leakage when the package is subjected to unintentional external forces and a second mode of operation capable of dispensing the fluid material when the package is subjected to external forces intentionally applied by the user. The second mode of operation is capable of dispensing the fluid material through a discharge orifice in response to manually applied forces and of automatically ceasing the dispensing operation when the manually applied forces are removed. A dispenser for pasty compositions (M) having a housing (1) in which there is arranged a piston (2) which is displaceable only in the emptying direction. An outer actuating handle is provided on a wall (10) of the head piece (K). The wall can be pressed in the direction towards the piston, the head piece having a dispenser outlet opening (7) which lies at the outer end (9") of a tube (9) whose end section (9') forms an inner open mouth end the end section over its entire length protruding inwards beyond the wall into the pasty composition. In order to obtain a structural shape which is simple to manufacture and a self-regulation of the delivery which is free of loss the actuating handle is formed as a dome-shaped cap (6) and is seated on a collar (12) which lies concentric to the tube (9) and which collar protrudes outwardly beyond the wall (10). A removable closure lid has a stopper which extends into the dispenser outlet opening. The closure lid is spaced from the cap and is held against an annular wall which extends on the outside of the housing spaced apart from an edge of the cap.

The nozzle is integral with a cover fixed to the body (10) and enclosing the pump member, the cover including a button (70) for acting on the pump member to operate the dispenser.

A dispenser for pasty compositions, particularly a toothpaste dispenser, with pump-like actuation for the portioned delivery of the content from a nozzle discharge channel, in which connection the pump chamber, which can be reduced in volume by displacement of an actuator against spring action, lies, as seen in the flow path, between two valves, one of which is connected with the storage space and the other with the nozzle discharge channel. By a simple structural shape which is easy to manufacture and easy to use, the two valves are located on a straight-line which extends along their extension through the nozzle discharge channel and the actuation of the pump takes place transverse to said straight line.
