Geologic controls on thermal maturity patterns in Pennsylvanian coal-bearing rocks in the Appalachian basin
Leslie F. Ruppert,James C. Hower,Robert T. Ryder,Jeffrey Ross Levine,Michael H. Trippi,William C. Grady +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the thermal maturation patterns of Pennsylvanian strata in the Appalachian basin were determined by compiling and contouring published and unpublished vitrinite reflectance (VR) measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paleoecological interpretation of a middle Pennsylvanian coal bed in the central Appalachian basin, U.S.A.
TL;DR: In this article, the Hernshaw-Fire Clay coal bed has been identified as a domed peat swamp, and the inferred paleoecology and vertical stratification of each of these four floral groupings is similar in structure to the “phasic” floral communities found in modern peat systems.
Book ChapterDOI
Brown coal maceral distributions in a modern domed tropical Indonesian peat and a comparison with maceral distributions in Middle Pennsylvanian–age Appalachian bituminous coal beds
Book ChapterDOI
Palynologic and petrographic characteristics of two Middle Pennsylvanian coal beds and a probable modern analogue
Journal ArticleDOI
Study Relationship between Inorganic and Organic Coal Analysis with Gross Calorific Value by Multiple Regression and ANFIS
TL;DR: The relationship between maceral content plus mineral matter and gross calorific value (GCV) for a wide range of West Virginia coal samples (from 6518 to 15330 BTU/lb; 15.16 to 35.66 MJ/kg) has been investigated by multivariable regression and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system as mentioned in this paper.
