A door assembly (10) having a core (12) positioned within a frame (14). The door assembly (10) further includes a pair of opposed molded skins (24, 26). There are edges adjacent the skins. The skins (24, 26) are made of a polymer material, a low profile additive and reinforcement fibers. Each of the skins (24, 26) has an exterior surface (28) and an interior surface (30). The interior surface (30) is adjacent the core (12). The exterior surface (28) includes a textured pattern (31) consisting of level portions (32) and depressions (34). The depressions (34) have a range in depth from about 0.025 mm to about 1.0 mm from the level portions (32). The skins (24, 26) further include undercuts (36) adjacent the depressions (34). The undercuts (36) have a range in extent of undercutting from about 0.025 mm to about 0.10 mm from the depressions (34).

Described are polyester compositions comprising at least one polyester which comprises terephthalic acid residues, 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol, and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, wherein the inherent viscosity and the Tg of the polyester provides for certain polyester properties. Chemical inhibition is one of the methods to mitigate deposition of wax in pipelines; however, the efficiency of the inhibitors needs to be validated in the laboratory prior to field applications. Cold finger, as the most commonly used experimental setup in the field, has quite a different shear regime and temperature field compared to the flow loop and field production pipeline. This paper investigates the flow field (cold finger and flow loop) effect on the wax deposition and the performance of wax inhibitors under the same initial temperature difference and comparable shear stress conditions. The normalized deposit mass, wax content, carbon number distribution, and wax mass flux were investigated in these two different flow fields, and the performance of wax inhibitors was also investigated. Moreover, the results from this study are expected to serve as a basis for selecting proper inhibitors for field applications based on laboratory testing.

Effect of the Flow Field on the Wax Deposition and Performance of Wax Inhibitors: Cold Finger and Flow Loop Testing

This review presents a description of what is known about ionomer morphology. All papers on ionomer morphology are not included in this review; but all relevant questions about ionomer morphology are posed and answered as completely as possible. The review is critical; that is, reasons are given for morphologies that are deemed to be more or less likely. The review is organized along three length scales: sub-nanometer, nanometer to 10 nm, and greater than 10 nm. Within each length scale, all three phases are considered: crystalline, amorphous, and ionic aggregate. The purity of the three phases, the arrangement of atoms in the three phases, the size and shape of the three phases, and their arrangements in space relative to each other are explored in this review. A model for the shape of aggregates in ionomers that have well-ordered internal environments is presented. This model proposes that aggregates are fundamentally planar, but will “roll up” into tubes or other related structures in order to reduce the number of atoms at aggregate edges. This model was developed primarily based on the varied morphologies ionomers have shown in electron micrographs, but is consistent with other indirect measurements of ionomer morphology. POLYM. ENG. A method for storing holographic data, said method comprising: step (A) providing an optically transparent substrate comprising a polymer composition and a light absorbing chromophore, said polymer composition comprising a continuous phase and a dispersed phase, said dispersed phase being less than about 200 nm in size; and step (B) irradiating a volume element of the optically transparent substrate with a holographic interference pattern, wherein the pattern has a first wavelength and an intensity both sufficient to cause a phase change in at least a portion of the dispersed phase within the volume element of the substrate to produce within the irradiated volume element refractive index variations corresponding to the holographic interference pattern, thereby producing an optically readable datum corresponding to the volume element.

Polycarbonate-poly(alkylene oxide) copolymer compositions and articles formed therefrom

There are provided melt extruded blends of diene based rubber and preextruded polyphenylene ether, or blends thereof with an effective amount of a stabilizer such as a hindered phenol or metal deactivator/hindered phenol. The resulting polyphenylene ether composition can be further extruded with a polymeric organic matrix material, such as a polyamide or polyetherimide. When molded, the polyphenylene ether compositions have been found to resist loss of impact strength upon thermal aging and recycling.
