A touch input device capable of detecting a pressure of a touch on a touch surface may be provided that includes a substrate and a display module. The touch input device further includes an electrode which is disposed at a position where a distance between the electrode and a reference potential layer is changed by the touch on the touch surface. The distance may be changed depending on a magnitude of a pressure of the touch. The electrode outputs an electrical signal according to the change of the distance. A spacer layer is disposed between the reference potential layer and the electrode.

In general, techniques are described for presenting a statically oriented on-screen translucent keyboard. For example, a mobile device may comprise a touch-screen display that displays content from a software application executing on the mobile device and keyboard content defining a translucent on-screen keyboard. The touch-screen display may display the content and the translucent on-screen keyboard in the same orientation relative to the mobile device. The mobile device may further comprise an orientation module that detects a change in orientation of the mobile device. In response to detecting the change in the orientation of the mobile device, the touch-screen display may display the content and the translucent on-screen keyboard in a different orientation from one another relative to the mobile device. The touch-screen display may not change the orientation of the translucent on-screen keyboard. In this respect, the on-screen translucent keyboard remains statically oriented.

An apparatus and a method for changing an operation mode in a mobile communication terminal having a main housing and a folder cover movable with respect to the main housing about first and second hinge axes in first and second opening directions, respectfully, where a sense signal based on an opening direction of the folder cover is output; and the operation mode is changed depending on the sense signal. Accordingly, mode change can be quickly performed, depending on the opening direction of the folder cover, between a general phone mode for performing a phone call function and an e-mail mode for editing an e-mail and transmitting and receiving the edited e-mail. When the mobile communication terminal powers on, a user's desired mode can be accessed depending on the opening direction of the folder cover.

Systems and methods for detecting degradation and failures, includ types of failures, in a hose assembly are disclosed. One system includes a hose degradation monitoring circuit having a hose assembly including a hose having first and second conductive layers, and a degradation monitoring circuit configured to detect a resistance of the hose across the conductive layers. The degradation monitoring circuit includes a voltage source electrically connected to the first conductive layer, and a resistor electrically connected between the second conductive layer and ground. The degradation monitoring circuit further includes a voltage monitoring circuit electrically connected between the resistor and the second conductive layer, to periodically monitor a voltage at the location and detect a possible failure of the hose assembly upon determining that, based at least in part on a change in the voltage at the location over time, a resistance of the hose assembly has passed a threshold level.

Methods and systems for measuring hose resistance

The present invention is an inexpensive portable computer (100), which uses a standard full-size laptop display, which is enclosed within a rigid housing (105). The housing (105) includes an integrated input device assembly (125), such as a keyboard (125) that is mounted in front of the lower half of the full-size display device (120). The upper half of the display device (120) is uses as a viewing area for displayed text and graphics. This results in the computer having a viewing area that is approximately one-half the height of a standard laptop video display and combined with a keyboard that occupies the same space as the original full size laptop display.
