An LED light engine includes a flexible electrical cable, a wire-socket assembly attached to the cable, and an LED module selectively attached to the wire-socket assembly. The wire-socket assembly includes at least two IDC terminals. The IDC terminal displaces the insulating covering of the cable and contacts one of the electrical conductors. The LED module includes an LED electrically connected to the IDC terminals when the LED module attaches to the wire-socket assembly.

Flexible high-power LED lighting system

A satellite locator system used with a motor home has a parabolic reflector antenna dish, feedhorn and signal converter mounted on a turntable supporting electronic controls and elevation and azimuth motors operable to rotate the turntable and change the elevation of the dish to locate and target a satellite. A plastic dome mounted on a base plate attached to the roof of the motor home encloses the dish, feedhorn, signal converter, turntable, electronic controls, and elevation and azimuth motors. The dome has an inner semi-hemispherical surface located close to the signal converter to improve the signal strength. A remote console wired to the electronic controls is operable to initiate the satellite search and monitor the status of the satellite search.

Satellite locator system

Antenna assemblies and associated satellite tracking systems that may include a low profile two-way antenna arrangement, tracking systems, and applications thereof. Applications for the system include military, civilian, and domestic emergency response applications. The antenna arrangements may be configured to form a spatial element array able to track a satellite in an elevation plane by electronically dynamically targeting the antenna arrangement and/or mechanically dynamically rotating the antenna arrangements about transverse axes giving rise to generation of respective elevation angles and dynamically changing the respective distances between the axes whilst maintaining a predefined relationship between said distances and the respective elevation angles. The system provides dynamic tracking of satellite signals and can be used for satellite communications on moving vehicles in military and civilian applications.

Applications for low profile two-way satellite antenna system

A miniature dual-band two-way mobile satellite-tracking antenna system mounted on a movable vehicle includes a miniature parabolic reflector dish having an elliptical aperture with major and minor elliptical axes aligned horizontally and vertically, respectively, to maximize azimuthal directionality and minimize elevational directionality to an extent corresponding to expected pitch excursions of the movable ground vehicle. A feed-horn has a back end and an open front end facing the reflector dish and has vertical side walls opening out from the back end to the front end at a lesser horn angle and horizontal top and bottom walls opening out from the back end to the front end at a greater horn angle. An RF circuit couples two different signal bands between the feed-horn and the user. An antenna attitude controller maintains an antenna azimuth direction relative to the satellite by rotating it in azimuth in response to sensed yaw motions of the movable ground vehicle so as to compensate for the yaw motions to within a pointing error angle. The controller sinusoidally dithers the antenna through a small azimuth dither angle greater than the pointing error angle while sensing a signal from the satellite received at the reflector dish, and deduces the pointing angle error from dither-induced fluctuations in the received signal.

A low profile, vehicle mounted, in-motion tracking, satellite antenna includes a pair of antenna assemblies mounted in parallel on a rotatable platform. Each antenna assembly includes two subreflectors with a plastic matching element. The outputs of the two antenna assemblies are coupled with a single phase shifter. The combined outputs are retransmitted to a receiver inside the vehicle. The satellite antenna also includes a receiver for receiving channel selection data and/or for providing two-way communication with equipment inside the vehicle. The antennae, transmitter and receiver are self-powered by a storage device which is charged by a wind driven generator. A retractable radome lowers to a lower profile when the antenna is not in use.

Easy set-up, low profile, vehicle mounted, in-motion tracking, satellite antenna

A deployable satellite antenna system permits an antenna with elevation and azimuth control to be mounted to the roof of a vehicle. The elevation control assembly for the antenna system has a base with two parallel tracks and a slider that moves along these tracks. The antenna is connected to a support frame pivotally attached to the slider. Pivot arms are pivotally attached between the reflector and the base adjacent to the parallel tracks. The elevational position of the antenna is adjusted by a motor that controls the position of the slider along the parallel tracks between a stowed position in which the antenna is stowed facing the vehicle and a deployed position in which the antenna is rotated to a maximum elevational angle. The azimuth of the antenna is controlled by a rotating assembly mounted to the roof of the vehicle beneath the base of the elevation control assembly.
